I'm more concerned by the partnership with Flock. A non-LE company. They need not play by the same rules. They are the company behind the LPR camera database that I was testing a few months ago.

What could Flock do with the surveillance video?
Build profiles and sell it for targeted advertising?
Use it for something nefarious?

Flock sells access to their database. The company I use buys the data from them. When I was testing it I was amazed at how many times and places my license plate was read. Unfortunately the $5000+ a month price tag was a little too much for us. I did track a random license plate from the street and was able to determine who they were, where they lived, worked, shopped, etc.

This was discussed in the meeting we had. IIRC, only certain types of data need to be deleted after 30 days. Think your local meter maid who uses LPR's. Private companies don't have to. Flock was rumored to be setting up a deal with UPS, Amazon and other delivery companies to install LPR's on their trucks. How many times a week does UPS drive down your street? Stop at your office?

How would you feel if your neighbor across the street opts in to allow constant access to LE? They'd be able to watch you 24/7 without your consent.

Our subdivision was built with 100% Ring so basically as you take a walk down the sidewalk, you hear the 'you are currently being recorded' every 3 seconds. I certainly don't feel good about it, but I've accepted it - I've accepted the reality that anyone who wants to can put a camera on their property that goes across the street, over the top of a fence, or certainly to the sidewalk/street.

And then it naturally follows they can share that with anyone they like.

I don't feel good about it, but I've kinda accepted it as being.

You can get a cheap one with motion sensor and nightvision that records onto a mounted sd chip. No subscription.

You can more or less tell which dog pooped by examining the poop's size and other poop locations. Do you know the dogs in your neighbourhood

It's priceless when your children can safely play in a gated community that has video surveillance, leave your car unlocked with open windows, and your pet suntanning. The Sheriffs station is directly across our community's main entrance. Peace of mind!

Yes, I live in a townhome. The vehicle's garage, living room, and kitchen are on the ground floor. Bedrooms upstairs. Another important factor is this community is not in a flood zone and no sink holes have occurred near this area.

i DO have one of those kind of signs on the front sisde of my house , as it's meticulously curated with a shaped artificial turf and pavers, but maybe I need to put one on the 'problem side' of the house as a 1st step, so at least they realize someone is noticing and not liking.

Uh-oh. Sad but true. I am 100% against the tactics ICE is using. The unconstitutional searches/detentions, the time & place of arrests, the physical abuse .Oh sh*t, I started talking politics again. Sorry everyone! Back to work for me now

Our association put up those signs and poop bag stations to encourage dog walkers to pickup poop, but some don't bother, like the one that walks the pitt bull. The HOA has already fined the guy $100.

Don't get me started about people who own pitbulls, as I have some unpleasant things to say.

First, if you're reading this and you own a pitbull, it's likely this post will offend you though I hope it doesn't - you might be the exception to the rule, you might be a perfectly normal, dignified, responsible person who just happens to love pitbulls for some reason and you conduct yourself in a perfectly responsible way.

But for the most part, you can take the pitbull out of the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto out of the pitbull. 99.9% of pitbull owners are irresponsible, low people who (rightfully) assess their dog as a dangerous weapon that's satisfying to know one owns. Tragic accidents involving pitbulls or pitbull-adjacent dogs are real, and terrifying, and inevitably accompanied by the galling-ly stupid comment from the owner "But he had never done anything like that before!" [as they pick up the pieces of what's left of grandma].

If there was a weapon that could run around the neighborhood firing shots by itself, I would not own or let that weapon loose. Apply the same logic to dogs - don't be stupid and own something that's essentially an auto-firing weapon that can hurt people.

And the main thing? do NOT be offended when your pitbull approaches me and, having no other recourse, I pepper spray it, because I have before and would again if needed. do not yell "He's friendly". I don't care how friendly he is. If he looks like he's about to make contact wiht me and it's a strong dog I don't personally know, it's getting engaged.
