I need help finding an existing or making a db. This db does not have much to it, so I am getting frustrated finding/making one.

My company has equipment that is stored in one of three places, customers, trucks of employees, and other(like warehouse, or out for repair). The db should be able to give me a report of where everything is on a given day, and a report of what was in a given customers property during the job(this is not for a single day, but for the duration of the job).

If someone knows of an existing db like this, I would appreciate a link. If you want to help, it is appreciated. At this point I would not mind paying someone to do this for me, as long as it wont cost too much.

Thanks!

Will have a look. I have constructed a similar thing for a client to track keys. Whether held by contractors, employees etc.

Here is about 2 hrs work....

Still needs a lot more. You will need add some sort of tracking so a piece of equipment cant be designated to to areas at the same time etc.

Do you have any idea on how you would like to track this? There are lots of ways to do it.

I havent touch the reporting yet as you need to get the tables right so the correct data can be extracted.

Let me know if you need any more help. I will keep playing tomorrow night.

First of, let me thank you. You have gone far beyond what I expected anyone would be willing to do for me. You took 2 hours out of your life to help a perfect stranger. That is very honorable. I am sorry it has been about a week since I have been able to respond, but I did look at what you have made, and it is excellent.

In terms of preventing one item from being place in 2 locations, I do have one idea. Lets say I am entering a transaction from employee a to employee b. When selecting the equipment serial numbers to place in employee b, there could simply be a filter of available numbers to choose from, based on what is currently logged into employee a's truck. Would that solve your question?

I took what you did and added some more sample info.

Edit: As far as I can see, there are only a few things need for this to be done. If the filter I suggested works, that is one. Also, on the Transaction Details form, it would be great if only active jobs and employees appeared. I tried to do this myself by adding the active field to the query, and setting the criteria to yes, but that did not work. On this same form, there is now only one space for equipment id number, but when there is a transaction, there is almost always more than one, sometimes as many as 20 pieces. So it would be nice if instead of entering a different transaction for each piece of equipment, I could enter one transaction for many different equipment ids. I looked at the sample dbs on this forum for something like this, and I did find one, but it did not work. Anyway, besides the reports, thats about it. If you are willing to help more, that would help me tremendously.
