I am trying to make a list of stuff that you can do in Excel that are quite easy to do but not known to the wider public.... Not really beginning excel users, they know what excel is for and what A1 means and how to bold/italic stuff.... But intresting stuff they may not be aware off.

Some things I was thinking off:
- Remove duplicates
- Conditional formatting
- Filtering (top 10, dates)
- Text to columns
- Grouping
- Crosstab
- Freeze Panes (2 ways and the differences)
- Introduce Formulas and how to create them
- Difference between Absolute and Relative references

Anything semi-usefull stuff that is easy win like this that can be usefull to know that I am missing?

Offcourse I am hoping to include some hands on stuff as well as some "show and tell"

example

I didn't see named Cells or Named Ranges used in formula.

This is very powerful and help self document spreadsheets.
Otherwise, we end up checking every formula.
Named ranges provide a Business Rule abstraction that helps to define what the formula is intended to do.

Renamed an excel 2010 file to xls extension so this site would upload it.

a few people at my work were VERY impressed by pivot tables.
also ability to bring data from the web.
also HYPERLINK formula, but it's more impressive if you can link it to some web stored data.
maybe Data Validation?
good luck!
