Democrat idea
What is a "Democrat idea"? Do you mean, like, a fire department? Something socialist like that? Or maybe a library? Those kind of expensive, well, services?

When is the last time you heard of a Democrat idea for a solution to a major problem that wasn't essentially just printing more money and throwing money at the problem?
And they fight tooth and nail against oversight and accountability. Every new program needs measurable objectives and a sunset provision if they can't be achieved in a rational period of time. Obviously some things take longer than others but at a minimum, there needs to be 2 year reviews.
What is a "Democrat idea"?
More like Johnson's "Great Society" that managed to stop upward mobility for blacks in its tracks in the 70's and the Department of "Education" that doesn't improve the quality of teaching to get better results in standardized testing but lobbies instead for dumbing down testing standards. Johnny can't read so let's make comic books to explain the world to him using pictures.

What is a "Democrat idea"?

One man's opinion: I think this has mutated over time, but these days it appears to be the idea that the government protects everyone from everything including their own stupidity. ...so they "dumb down" tests to prevent the stupid little darlings from feeling socially ostracized for being two degrees dumber than an old brick. ...so criminals aren't responsible because they were brought up by an evil social concept called "don't do the crime if you can't do the time." ... so people can't pay off their debts so never mind that they got a degree in some ethereal subject that isn't hiring now - like a language degree in Ancient Moldavan. Instead, let's forgive them their debts and let the loan companies (and their stockholders) soak up the lost return on investment caused by defaulted loans. ...so police officers get blamed for killing a guy who had ingested 15 or 20 pills with fentanyl.

This "Democrat idea" is diametrically opposed to the idea that each of us is individually responsible for what happens to us, including the responsibility for facing the inherent penalty associated with doing dumb or illegal things.

It seems that any view which upsets the Israelis is antisemitic. I have sympathies for both sides of the arab/Israeli divide. But I wouldn't trust either of them.

that the government protects everyone from everything including their own stupidity.

This implies that the population is stupid, which in many ways is true.

What they forget is that the government is made out of people from the self same population. In other words the government is made out of stupid people.

The democrats don't like people to feel excluded, downtrodden, disadvantaged in any way.

So they teach infants that it is wrong to win a race, because this means there is a loser.

They move the goal posts on exams so that more people, less intelligent people can pass these exams.

Eventually these students go to university, but the same thing has happened in the university the goal posts have been moved, less able, less capable, less intelligent people are able to leave universities with a degree.

Industry is aware of this and the take-up of university graduates into industrial positions is vetted strongly to make sure that the less able university graduates are not allowed to take up the positions.

Not so the government, influenced by universities the government takes on every type of person under the banner of inclusivity.

Next the government, again under the banner of inclusivity, will force industry to take on less able university graduates.

We now have a situation where SpaceX is under scrutiny for its hiring policies. The last phase is starting!

I wonder what would happen if another country was to invade America and commit atrocities?

Well that's an easy one, it's already happened and I know the answer.

Japan committed atrocities against America (Pearl Harbour) and ended up being nuked!

What if the israelis take a leaf out of the American book?

...except for the Jews, their main political opponent or anyone who doesn't tow the ideological Democrat line. They all get cancelled.

The problem with the Universities is that when you get too many of one political party in charge, they will gravitate towards hiring those with similar views. Groupthink takes over and you get extremism.

Imagine the interview process for a professors position at Harvard...

Gay: So, what do you think about The Wall?
Candidate: I love it!
Gay: And Trump?
Candidate: Jesus in a different form.
Gay: Israel?
Candidate: They have a right to exist.
Gay: Right, that's enough of your bigotry. Next!

Oh I see, the "Democrat idea" is a caricature; a convenience so you don't have to distinguish the actual subtlety of actual problems and engage in debate on actual issues, rather, you can just dismiss the ideas of your political opponents in a broad sweeping motion called the "Democrat idea."
But it seems like this "Democrat idea" is itself a Republican idea, because it was conceived by, and flourishes most readily, in the Republican mind. Certainly it has all the black/white, yes/no, left/right simplicity Republicans crave.

Is it ever possible Groupthink occurs in groups with which you agree, and if so, is there an antidote?

You have just defined what groupthink is: groups of people who all agree. The antidote is clear: opposing views.

This has been going on for years with our EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) laws that cause companies to have to keep score regarding how many black, women, handicapped, blind, or gay first basemen each baseball team has.

Let's start with a very simple Democrat position - Biden giving border agents instructions to ignore our existing immigration laws and allow the southern border to be completely open. Going so far as cutting barbed wire so the illegals don't hurt themselves trying to cross it and welding open gates so no one has to bother climbing over walls. If you can manage to get to the US border, we welcome you with open arms. Come into our welfare state. We'll put you up in 4 star hotels. We'll fly you anywhere you want to go - no photo ID required because YOU are special. We'll give you money. We'll give you a cell phone. We'll give you free housing. We'll feed you. We'll educate your children. We'll provide the best medical care money can buy. Don't you worry, you get priority in border city hospitals. Local taxpayers can fend for themselves. Not enough room at the Inn, we'll throw out disabled military so you can stay there.

Please try to make sense of any of this. How is it better for America and American citizens to not have any control over who enters our country? Why do you think that American citizens can support all of these people? Why do you think that everyone, anywhere in the world, has a RIGHT to just come into our country illegally and be supported by American taxpayers?

No I'm thinking I was probably referring to the 70% of our budget that's entitlements ;)

Just don't be calling SS an entitlement. This is money that the US government takes - at gunpoint - from all people who work legally in this country, with the promise to return it with interest when they retire. The deck is stacked against us though. Based on actuarial calculations, the government should never have to pay out more than it takes in (adjusted for inflation). A huge problem though is the expansion of benefits. Benefits are given for disability as well as death. So my best friend's father died when she was in high school. SS paid to send her and her brother to college. My parents were divorced so I also had no father but since mine was alive, I had to pay my own way. I put this little injustice in the "social justice" system in the category of forgiving college loans for others. Somehow, all my life I've been on the wrong side of this game. I keep paying to "educate" others and they keep coming out of college as raving lunatics who hate America (not my friends - they went to college before colleges went bad but just barely).

What if you have a tribal kind of disrespect for the libtards who hold those opposing "democrat ideas"? For the antidote you propose to be effective, you need to listen respectfully, correct? Failing that, your own echo chamber will blindly support your own bad ideas.
