has anyone past or currently made an old skool ( point and click ) adventure

using a table for your satchel SQL to say what you have and when you have used it and so on

as i have a seed of an idea, to try and use the old usbourne book The Mystery of Silver Mountain https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8478718-the-mystery-of-silver-mountain

which i have had since the days of the venerable spectrum to which me and my dad typed in line after line of code

but i was thinking as i do from time to time, with royalty free art you could try and make it look more like the book, then just black screens on the spectrum, even though the imagination of a young child is a powerful thing and i spent many an hour going through that book wishing it looked like it did in the pages

https://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=304934

see this thread, which discusses character management in an rpg.

It might be worth discussing this with @Aeristan

I think in general, you have a host of characters, enemies, locations, implements and actions, etc. and then have a process that deals with whatever happens to be in the current location, according to the current attributes of the characters involved. You can move between locations according to your location specifications (ie - map), but you might need a key etc to open the door.

I worked for Sierra On-Line (many moons ago). Went to programmer, to QA, to tech support to programmer. So I have see a lot of adventure games front and back. We had a propriety computer language to code everything. A lot has changed since then.

I think the link takes us to YOUR google drive, not a public one?

current build of what i have done in my point click adventure style game

not complete by long shot, but have a few big things ticked of my list such as

1. Credits Scroll

2. Final Battle ( but could still do with a tweak in case of a dead heat on health dropping to zero )

see what you think all comments welcome

have also made a site not much at mo, but hopefully add more as i go along, and thanks to everyone's help along the way so far :)
