I thought the 'cooler was pretty much dead anyway. There hasn't been much going on the last few times I've been here, other than the usual.

I see I missed some excitement around the first of the month though.

I just got kind of tired of coming here and seeing that every thread was exactly the same as it was when I left. (sigh) I can't stay away forever though, I have to pop back in to see what's happening.

Yes, I'm not completely gone either.
I come in a few times a week to see if anything interesting is going on, but I have generally not posted in several weeks.

Yeah, I was surprised by the lack of posts myself. You guys want a thread that is light and friendly where everyone can get a long? How about a photo thread where you can post pictures of things around you? Famous landmarks, cityscapes, interesting objects. what have you. Could be fun and educational at the same time.

The lack of posts is obviously due to the fact that after many trials and tribulations i have just got my first Grandchild and am not around to answer the questions so much, hence people aren't asking.

Now, is this a child of a son or a daughter?
Was this a planned blessing or a surprise event?

None of mine were planned but they've all been happy events.

No grandchildren yet and not encouraging such as I'd like my son and daughters to have a bit more time to enjoy their own youth. In fact, I've made it clear to them that I could support any decision on family they choose to make, and whether or not it results in offspring for them is completely up to them. There are no rules or expectations or timelines... No pressure here! I just want them to be happy. I'll not be the parent who needles and says, "When will you give me grandchildren?"

It was a surprise but wanted.

My daughter has had several miscarriages and then failed to concieve for a few years, then failed with IVF.

She finished a very stressful multiyear project and at the same time her partner changed jobs from one he didn't enjoy.
They took a holiday in Italy, by now she was 38, and bingo, the rest is history as they say.
She has been wrapped in cotton wool by Liverpool's womens hospital and her partner. My wife is over the moon as she never expected to live to see this day, her cancer should have killed her years ago, so forgive me if i have gone OTT.

Don't know the length but a 6lb 15 and a half ounce boy with more hair than me and his dad.
