Hello :)

Ive created a form that creates a booking for a dentist.

My issue is where we type in the customers name. what if they have the same name? how do we know which one is theirs ( and what if they dont know their customer number?)...

In this case i wanted to somehow have a part where on the booking of an appointment when i select a patient a way like their phone number would make them identifiable... im not sure how i can do this...

Can someone help please :)

I would have some code/query to check if you've more as one customer with the same name, and then decide by the address (or phone) which customer is booking an appointment.

Or simply use a multi column combobox to display the additional address/birthdate/phonenumber data...

I think this is always tricky with a combo box, as the combo box focuses on the first match without opening it. The user won't generally realise there are potential alternative selections.

I suppose in the combo box after update you can test for multiple names, and then open a selection form to choose from multiple names.

heya how would i do the selection form? this sounds like a good idea

ps. im not great with access

in the combo box after update, do

1) a dcount to see if there is one match or more for the entered value
2) if only one, then you can go to it
3) if more than one, then design a query/form to select all the names matching the entry, and show additional info, and open this form. The user can select the one he wants.
