Visiting the Canadian memorials of the two World Wars. A great many Canadians died in France. Juno Beach, Dieppe, Vimy Ridge, Caen etc. Hard to get there anyway else except Charles de Gaulle.
We also visited Ypres in Belgium. Belgium much perferred. Ypres is in the Flemish part of the country. Every one we met spoke English but treated you like garbage if you spoke French. No wonder they can't get a government.
BTW the Vimy Ridge Memorial has just completed a two year restoration. Well worth a visit if you're near Arras.
