Well, there it is. . . . . .the annual backslapping, false tears, hateful looks ceremony is over.

I saw bits of it on the news, what a load of tripe. . . . . . overpaid people with egos the size of the Grand Canyon - all clamouring for TV exposure. . . . . yet all they do is learn and recite some lines then they get an award for it

Does anybody actually watch this false fiasco? Does anybody think its worth the TV time (and every other time)? Does anyone throw up at the falseness of it? . . . . . it gets worse every year. They even dug up Tony Curtis, he looked like he died years ago, and what a great wig he had.

And whats this brokeback mountain?. . . . . .is "brokeback" a word???? surely it should be "broken back" shouldn't it? its two words not one

Yes, but to be fair, I doubt that any of the partygoers would know that Africa exists - remember they live in their own little worlds without a care for anyone but themselves.

It depends on what u call a meal menu. If its just a meal on a plate,then i dont know what makes u think that an African Family cannot afford such junk! Again...here it depends on what you call an African Family! Are u talking about a humble African-American family from Orleans or a typical Family deep rooted in the forests like those in DRC(Democratic Republic Of Congo).
If the latter is true, then let me inform you that those people seem to be poor but they are rich! Food comes from the earth, and thats what they have.They can be able to naturally grow such food,reap it,cook it, and share it as a family or clan without eaven thinking about infecting it with additives which can lead to African-American-like diseases like obesity.

Collin. No one does not know that Africa does exit. But what to do?We all individually have limited resources to take care of anyone who is not any close to us.

Not all families in Africa are in that state Brother. Those are way on the -ve side of the poverty mark. Those are families that are affected by mostly WAR. This also happens in some American countries and some countries of Asia.The perception that most of you guys have is that if you see these pics, you think that the whole country,Region,or Continent surfers the same way. Hey!!! take a walk in Africa. You will be amazed!
I stay in Uganda and i personally visit some of these areas affected by the 18 year Old Insuggency. The situation is exactly the way you have potrayed it in the picture.But these are people chased from deep in the villages by Rebels,they come to live in town where they cannot cultivate and eat the Food they want. They have to depend on food from Organisations which is even some times not compatible with thier bodies and does not come in all seasons.How would you expect that they should look?

Failing rains are already a major cause of hardship in Africa, as witnessed by the current drought in East Africa

The Failing Rains only caused a problem of suspected drought and power shortages since the water levels of the small pond here have rapidly reduced over the passed few months. This has nothing to do with the hunger rocking out in WAR ravaged areas of the region.Unlike those in the rural areas who eat from the ground,it is mostly affecteting urban dwellers,who depend entirelly of hydro power and food like that served at the oscars.

You know, I might be tempted to watch these types of shows if they weren't on Sunday nights at 9PM. That's bedtime, so these shows and the Super Bowl tend to get less of my attention.

I haven't a clue who won what - its was on breakfast TV this morning.

I saw the little chat with Tony Curtis and I heard the name "Brokeback Mountain" and thought that must be gramatically wrong - the rest was pictures of so called famous people going into Vanity Fair for a nosh. About 10 minutes tops.
