Oscar time again!

It seems as though it's cool to bash Americans in the UK.
I think the word "bash" is too strong, its more exposing idiocyncrasies of American way of life.
One chap on TV here (Angus Deaton) had a 6 week programme dedicated to "self help" videos from the USA.
One part was "how to kill someone with a ball point pen", so this American chap demonstrated by throwing the pen at another chap - pulling a gun and shooting him.. . . . . . . brilliant.. . . . . only in the USA eh?

Oddly enough, this type of programme / satire has gained huge momentum here since Ol' Cross Eyes got in power - we never did it with Clinton (until the dress incident)

All good fun.:D

Could you give me a link on that?
Our Tony was on a chat show (Parkinson) at the weekend when he hinted that God had a word in his shell-like.

I didn't watch any of the Oscars as I don't really care to see a bunch of celebs patting each other on the back etc. I usually wait until the next day and then just read the paper or look on the 'net to see who won best bicture and best actor/actress and that's about all I'm interested in. I did read this story though about Jon Stewart and how he didn't get very many laughs because the stars are afraid to laugh at themselves. It makes them seem like a bunch of pompous jerks to me. It sounds to me like he did a decent job.

Feel free to bash back Ken. ....

Really quite pointless in my opinion. And I'm quite sure Bush and Blair have done some good in their time. And besides, if I do was to do blanket UK bashing, I would feel like I would be belittling all of our UK friends and I would want to do that to such an overall nice group of people...

Did 'Walk the Line' win anything?

Maybe we should have our own back slapping award for the forum. We could do:

1. Most helpfull male with Access.
2. Most helpfull female with Access.
3. Runner ups to 1 & 2
4. See 3
5. Most popular male in the cooler.
6. Most popular female in the cooler.
etc

???

I'm not sure, other than Reese Witherspoon winning Best Actress for her portrayal of June Carter Cash.

Here is something interesting though:

Brokeback Mountain

We thought the movie was pretty good. Did you see it?

(In order to get the full effect of the bunny story I would need to watch it several time beacuse it was so fast... I don't think I could stand to see it again...Who has the free time to do those things, I mean surely they don't get paid to do 'em.. :p )

You mean 'Walk the Line', I'm assuming? :D

No, we don't get out to movies much these days but we both really wanted to see that one. We'll probably have to rent it when it comes out or buy it from pay-per-view or something. I haven't seen 'Crash' either and I was wondering if it was any good since it beat out 'Brokeback' for Best Picture and it didn't get much (if any) hype like 'Brokeback' did.

Aren't there a few categories you left out Ken? Like 'Sweetest Female', 'Brattest Male', 'Most likely to turn into American Bashing thread Male', and 'Most likely to highjack a thread'.

I freakin' love those!

To answer your question, Ken, the woman who created them initially did it for fun, and when they became popular got paid to do more. For example, a TV station (I forget which one) planned a marathon of horror movies for Halloween and got her to do several horror movie parodies to air. Apparently Starz is comissioning mroe. If you liked them, go to www.AngryAlien.com She's got a whole bunch and a lot of them are really funny.

The idea of any full length movie being re-enacted in a 30 second timeframe by bunnies is hilarious to me. :D

I especially like when anything that's very non-bunny (like an Alien or King Kong) has tiny little bunny ears tied on. :p
