I was looking through some VERY old threads in the Watercooler and thought .... "Wow..... people who haven't been around that long should know that once upon a time, pretty much everyone got along swimmingly and we were all quite fond of each other. And, people who have been here a long time should be reminded that we are quite able to do so if we'd like to."

Oh, and the pics you may find... they're AGES old and taken from other threads that were years old in 2005!

Enjoy!

Hey Tess,

My word what an old thread that is and how things have changed for me since then. As I pointed out it was all downhill from there.....until I got rid of the man :p

I've started logging in here again this past couple of weeks just reading up on what's going on in the cooler. Glad to see that some of the regulars from a few years back are still around. I used to log in here day and night, it was simply like an addiction :D I don't get the time anymore and I very seldom work with access these days but it's nice to pop back in to say hello to everyone.

Hows life treating you? Hope all is going well!

I know. It WAS like an addiction, wasn't it? But good friends are addicting. And having a great place to come and share your life's little stories, and having some laughs is addicting too.

I don't work with Access hardly at all either anymore. I know it has changed so much since I first started coming in here and asking newbie questions. But I did learn a lot and so many people helped. I also found some great people in the Watercooler which is the only reason I pop in every now and again too. It's hard to fall out of love with people once you see something you admire. I miss you guys.

I don't know if anyone would be surprised to hear that my kids are all still home. Hell, lol.... they aren't "kids" anymore. Josh just turned 20! He was 13 or 14 when I first started posting here. Alyssa is 21 and she's the one who is closest to moving out. She's hardly home anymore really. With her it's school, work and boyfriend's house. She stops by... I think after we've left for work to look for food, take showers, find clothes.... and sometimes fall asleep in MY bed watching TV. (She's more like a squatter.... Goldilocks style) Aimee is 23 and just completed massage therapy training. She's now preparing for her National Test for licensure.

I'll update you on the other parts of my life later. It's not ALL about the kids, is it? LOL.... are you going to be there for me sweetie when you have to help me deal with the empty nest syndrome?

While I haven't used Access professionally in a long time, I still pop in here and watch the same spats erupt and similar thread topics (in the 'cooler and elsewhere) repeat every few months. For example, there must be at least one thread on evolution versus creationism every year…ironically the arguments remain pretty much the same…they don’t seem to evolve…

That's because, just like the universe, it degrades over time and moves towards chaos, not order.

LOL Tess, it's not that bad! All they do is move their clothes to a new house! You still get to buy them groceries, AND, before long, you end up virtually living in their house because it's easier to go visit them than have them uproot the kids! We moved house two years after my daughter and her son left, but she still refers to one of the rooms in the new house as hers and one as the kids' room :D

Ah, I also don't come around as much but I can't stay away for long. I still have to check in from time to time to see who's arguing about what, and I also reminisce about what it was like when everyone got along and not every thread devolved into a political argument. How nice it was to be able to have discussions about other things! :)

Does she look anything like you and is she single???? :p

Seriously though, I have to agree. This place was a huuuuge addiction for me. Things started going downhill shortly after the outage that caused us to lose all of our wonderful friendly conversations that we had. The ones where there was NEVER any political discussions or UK vs US talk. I miss those days sometimes. There were days it was the first thing I did! :D

And the old picture thread we had, that was a lot of fun too. Does anyone still have Idjit's pirate pic? hehe

No, the forum went downhill when the USA decided to invade another country for no reason, and kill thousands of innocent people and 5,000 US soldiers in order to get oil.

Anyway, there's no point in reminiscing - nostalgia is not what it used to be.

No, the forum went downhill when you decided to start discussing these topics here. That's exactly what the forum is about and what we should be discussing here. You're spot on, as usual.

Seriously, I agree with your political views about the war and Bush, but the forum would still be fun if it weren't for all the political garbage corrupting it here. It's not helping anyone. You're no better than Bush in that regard, and you don't even realize it. You invade this forum for no reason and kill off all of the fun we used to have here for your own personal hate agenda.

Idjit's pirate picture is in the post that I provided the shortcut to. It's post 190.

Yes, Aimee looks exactly like me, except redhead (and 21 years younger) and yes.... she's single.
:)

OMG! I thought I lost my album cover picture for good. I'm grabbing that for sure. Thanks for pointing those out Tess!

Oh, and...that's good to know.... ;) :p

I don't agree with Colin's politics, he's a fun guy and all just that his politics are all screwed up. The world looks to America as it's policeman, we'd be more outraged if they just sat back and watched - hmmm, like they do with Rhodesia...

Anyway, I do agree with your point that political garbage should be kept to the political threads, so forget I said that here :D

In what way are they 'screwed'?

The world looks to America as it's policeman,

Sadly though, in 9 out of 10 cases they make matters worse for the poor buggers they're invading in order to help.

we'd be more outraged if they just sat back and watched - hmmm, like they do with Rhodesia...

Yes, that Ian Smith is a very naughty boy in Rhodesia.

Anyway, I do agree with your point that political garbage should be kept to the political threads,

Threads keep getting hijacked - this is an example of how. Notice how your comment has now changed the topic. Despite what people think, it's not just Rich and I that are the culprits.

Glad to be of service :D You didn't even like my little link there? Reminiscing = Rhodesia as opposed to Zimbabwe?? Come on, surely I deserve a teeny weeny point for trying. Am I trying? You do find me trying don't you :D
