I am at the point now where I am starting not to care about everyone (other countries in the world) and think the US needs to start thinking about ourselves. As selfish as that statement may be, I am starting to lean towards that path. Here are some ideas that I believe the US needs to start doing:
1) We need to start getting tougher on illegal immigration from the South as well as from the North. To think that we need to allow those the become US citizens make ticked off after our forefathers as became citizens the legal way. That being said, the US government should consider making immigration limited and tougher to get . Times are different now than they were back in the earlier part of the 20th Century.
2) We need to start drilling for our own oil off our own costs. Hell, you now have China drilling for oil between Cuba and Florida, while we cannot because of the activist. Tell me that isn’t a bunch of crap! Granted, we’d still need the oil refineries to build more refineries to handle our consumption needs.
3) Again, because of the activist, we haven’t built a nuclear reactor since the ‘70’s. We need to start building more of them to get more off of oil dependency.
4) Scrap this NAFTA idea as it seems that we are going to end up like Europe as whereas the US, Canada, and Mexico will become one union. Do we, as Americans really want to be a part of poverty and government unjust like that of Mexico? NO!
5) We need to start settling our National debt so we can bring the Dollar back. Where did it go? China and they are now considering dumping our notes for the Euro, which will cripple our economy. Is that what we really want? The US needs to stop their ridiculous spending.
6) At one time, the US used to be the World’s supplier, now we have become a country that consumes, which is one of the reasons why our economy is suffering. Not to mention that we (as Americans) are getting taxed to death to help support the government’s spending, which needs to stop, AND STOP NOW!!!! The US needs to get back to our core values and be more dependant on us and not on other countries as we do now.
7) National Pride. Here is one topic that I have a strong opinion on. There is a lack of this and is one of reasons why the US is tanking. I was in the military and have nothing but great love for the US. Is the US messed up, it sure the hell is and I’ll be the first to say this. All countries are not perfect by any means, but after being to many other countries, there is nowhere I’d rather be. I had learned the we (as American) take a lot for granted, the freedom we have to do anything we want. The freedom to speak our minds without being putting to death, unlike so many others on this planet.
Ron Paul is looking so attractive to so many. Not that I totally agree with all of his policies, but he sure does make sense in a lot ways. BTW, I have no idea who I will be voting for as of now. It will surly not be a demarcate though. Our government, like so many others, have been corrupt and if the American people don’t take it back, then we will eventually end up like the Roman Empire, which I believe will happen if we stay on the course we’re on now.
