Hi,

my database is in access 2000 format. I set the security and access settings on a machine with access 2003 and it was all fine.

I copied and transferred the database to another machine (running access 07) and all the security settings have been reset.

Is this meant to happen? and is there a way to avoid this in future?

Thanks

Security settings are on a per machine basis, so you will have to work with each user to get the settings set correctly.

Really? So instead of one .mdw to control everything you have visit each workstation? (I'm not setting you up this time Bob :p)

Hope we don't have to screw with it here for a while then :(

I didn't take it as using an mdw file Ken - I was taking it as Macro Security Level (High , Med, Low).

They didn't mention anything about Access USER LEVEL SECURITY and mdw files. They did mention going in and setting security and Access settings, which would tend to indicate the items under the TOOLS menu.

Oh... All of THAT security stuff. I remember them talking about several years ago where you either had to tab through the warnings, get a digital certificate or program using selected macros... Nearly sent a bunch of us packing - :p
