Q. Why would an atheist do the 'God bless her' thing?

I can only assume that it is some sort of joke between Col and Rich or maybe as well as anti God they are also anti Monarch and therefore it is a form of sarcasm, but they need to explain it.

Thanks ok - I did make some snips about the tent thing in London and the gold buggy thing in some other threads that may have been out of line...:o
Yes you should be mighty ashamed of yourself

Hanging out around here with Rich and Cols comments dotting the landscape will teach a fella how to be tollerant of others short comings.
What shortcomings are you talking about?

That's been answered here on several posts, use the search function, I am sorry sir but I don't have links:rolleyes:

I am, just not necessarily because of your presence - ;)

Out of character for someone that is usually quite obstreperous :p

he does lack the charisma of Clinton.
He lacks the charisma of a dead moose.

And as a commentator pointed out, I think his best effort at an apology for the war issue was when he said something like it wasn't the war we picked but it is the fight we're now in'.
How is this apology? This only dodges responsibility. He picked this war with the overwhelming support of the American people. The people now sidestep their responsibility by blaming the idiot they chose to lead the way.
The problem seems not to be Bush, but the whole machinery that thought Bush was a good idea in the first place. What's with that?

You are quite right (IMHO). And I for one am sorry for the whole mess. And I promise to take a closer look at the options next time around. :(

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see what your next smart ass remark will be...

Has anyone else noticed that last week, Ken was not posting on the forum (I never noticed anything). There was very little if any "USA / UK" sniping. There was sensible conversations and all seemed jolly hockey sticks.

This week, Ken (a moderator) is back, and a study of this weeks posts will show how things have deteriorated yet again into the old sniping, backbiting and non-productive comments - is there a link here?

Just an observation.

Agreed. I think it's another one of those wierd things we picked up from the UK...:p

Nope I don't think you can pin that on us Ken. The nearest thing we have is the Queen's Speech on Christmas day, and everybody's too p****d (inebriated) by the time it's broadcast to listen to her droning on anyway.

PS Answered this from page 1 before reading the following posts. Comments still stand though. And you are getting a bit cranky Ken. It's very naughty of you to take a similar line to those you criticise. You must rise above the temptation and lead by a better example. I take into account your previous apology but consider yourself duly admonished.

We do have the Queens (God Bless Her) speech at the opening of parliament. In that, she outlines the parliamentary bills to be put before the House in that coming term.

'duly admonished'? You're kidding, right? Just what comment(s) of mine have you 'duly admonished' me for?

Sorry Ken - evidently once again the concept of irony has failed to cross the pond.

Chill.

I wish we could cause Col's rude remarks to fail the trip across :D :D

Time out boys

Perhaps I should offer to broker a truce? If Ken was to refrain from referring to Col as a quadruped's posterior, perhaps Col would temper any strongly worded retorts about Ken?

How about it guys?
