@Isaac , i go back to your post #36, i think, where you discuss the breakdown of family values. My wife grew up in an extended family in the pacific islands. Kids went to school, their parents went to work & the grand parents hung around the home. There was always someone home to greet the kids after school, give them a snack, make sure they did their homework, got them ready for bed & maybe started an evening meal prep.
When the parents arrived home, they knew what the situation was & a load was taken off their evening routine.
Grand Parents had a sense of worth, had somewhere to stay, food on the table & the whole family benefited from their wisdom. Grand Parents also were sensitive to the family's needs and would 'dissapear' when the parents/kids needed some alone time.
Culture aside, doesn't this model overcome many of "modern" societies problems?. Who's the 3rd world now?
