Ummm...is there a way to turn this off, or is it a permanent new feature by Jon?

It makes sense, but I definately don't like the smaller width for reading posts.

I guess Jon's got to pay his way, which would be self defeating if the adverts could be turned off, but I agree I don't like the cramped feel of it.

The post(s) them selves, including the right advert frame seem to take many a second to load... Not sure if it is the forum or the advert frame causing the delay but its there and very noticable... Seems to be something like 10 seconds ...

Its a permanent replacement. Many of our users are using widescreen monitors nowadays and so its the same width as they are used to in the old days. Any change takes some time to get used to it.

Open to suggestions on what would be useful in the right column.

Yes, this is something that is happening to me. I believe it might be the amazon and chitika ads slowing it down. Will keep an eye on it. Probably end up replacing those ads with straight forward banner ads which have very little load time.

Just now this page loaded just as slow as 'before'... 10+ secs (not hard seconds but counted seconds 21, 22, 23, etc... should be close enough to guestimate the 10+ secs)

Yes see the amazon one...

Before it used to be pretty much instant, the main forum index doesnt seem to share the same problem opening that seems to only take 2 or so seconds which isnt to bad I guess.

Dont seem to remember having delays between the "header" and the "actual forum" before friday at all.

No, I am saying when your loading a(ny) thread the time seems to be 10+ seconds (for me anyways) while loading the main forum, it is very much less like 2 seconds or so

I kinda like it now, because my hosts file that I downloaded from mvps disables the widget for the ad banner. woohooo!

If you don't want to see the ads, just set the window to the part screen mode and drag window until they are right off the monitor.

You can still minimise from the taskbar or title bar with the context menu.

Much better than having them at the top.

hey Jon,

My forum index page shows the whole page without the ads, but you have to scroll over to them. Heck, I don't mind that at all! Can we get it to happen on every other page?
