I /love/ ignore lists... they're the modern equivalent of that kiddie we all saw in the playground, fingers stuck firmly in ears, shouting "I cant hear you, I cant hear you, Nnnnnerrrrr neerrrrrr". I especially love the act of /telling/ someone you're ignoring them - sort of like 'Im going to get the last laugh on you and there's nothing you can do about it hahahahha'. Not that I'd accuse anyone of being childish, of course...

Funny how some people react to criticism, innit?

No Ken, I get an ulcer worrying about what effect your dictator has on world peace.
We have more of a chance of being blown up now than ever.
All because of a terror attack on the great USA, so the great USA decides to upset the whole world and unleash terror to everyone (Bali, Madrid, London, India, Iraq, Istanbul etc etc) all because of one attack in the US

We were quite happy looking after our own terrorists (the IRA - USA funded ) but no, the USA gets an attack so the whole world has to suffer and will do now for decades to come.

Hmmmm, fair point I guess. Perhaps a little less vigour might aid - point noted. On the other hand though, can you /really/ imagine some of the (even moderate) anti-Merkins chatting civilly to the more 'enthusiastic' 'Merkins? Can't see it myself...

I've talked to New Yorkers before who genuinely feel that supporting the Irish is good, since they are repressing the horrid invader (in this case, us). We then talked about Bush's speech concering terrorism and how it is deplorable in /all/ its forms, and how that could be alongside the IRA causing terrorist explosions on mainland Britain, but they decided to talk about something else then.
That (among a few other things) is what makes me boil, the US stance that all terrorism is wrong, unless of course its terrorism that they happen to support, in which case its actually freedom fighters.

But, you are operating on the common misconception that this is a Democracy...it's a Republic. We have appointed representatives who act according to their "interpretation" of the wishes of their constituents. And from discussions on religion, I'm sure we all know about "interpretation"

Absolutely fine, no problem with that. After all, we know over here too that our Govt does things 'in our name' that we want nothing to do with. But that's exactly why we are sometimes /ashamed/ of our country - we feel apologetic to others for what our country perpetrates on them.
Somehow, though, Yanks are still /proud/ to be Yanks, and almost dismiss criticism with rejoinders like "yep, we bad, but we do good too". Perhaps if America practised the "humility" they want others to, they might not have such a God-awful reputation!
