If I am forced to pick one or the other. I'd have to say men are the better drivers. But as I am a man, perhaps that's simply because the way men drive makes more sense to me.

Male drivers tend to be more aggressive, probably speed more if I had to guess. But when it comes to the most ridiculous things I have seen on the road (talking on cell phones, applying makeup, blocking an entire lane of traffic on a highway while they try to merge into a different lane), it seems to be more often women than men.

If one interprets that as a safer driver, women would be considered better drivers.

If one interprets that in terms of capability, men would be considered better drivers.

That sounds accurate to me.

We agree! And I agree with your summary too. A new utopian world of peace and comradeship has dawned. :D

As a follow-up observation, men are more focused on the act of driving than women.

I am breathlessly waiting for the political correctness police to hysterically scream that my use of the word "capability" was somehow offensive.

Since a couple of people have asked, here is the clarification. By "better" I mean, safer, courteous, law abiding, in control, patient, has an understanding of the mechanical forces at work, has a good perception of the environment and conditions they are in and any other attribute they would need to know off the top of their head if they where going to sit their license test tomorrow. Too many, it appears have forgotten more rules of the road than they have remembered.

"Tear along dotted line" only applies to the little slip at the bottom of your license renewal, not to the road! Haha

:D
