Unintended Consequences from the Covid-19 Pandemic

I didn't want to post this, but after reading your link I thought maybe I should.

Yesterday, I watched President Trump's press conference. A reporter asked him you were so sure this disease is not serious and gave several dates and what had trump said.
Do you know what his response was? After blaming the reporter you are nasty and so and so, he replied I didn't want to cause a panic.
You see? It's a win-win game for him.
He says it's not serious and will be gone by Easter. If true, Oh..... I told you. Didn't I? If wrong, Oh... I didn't want to cause a panic.

But nobody has the courage to tell him sometimes a panic is necessary for people to take care of themselves.

Yes I watched it too.

How many of these protestors in Ohio do you think are going to get sick?

Now he is setting up the Governors to take the blame.

BTW, Now we have more deaths than Hillary had emails.

Also what EVIDENCE do you have that the corona virus escaped from a lab in Wuhan?
This is based on reports from our secret service. No one is saying that the Chinese manufactured the virus, in fact, they're saying it looks natural. The lab in Wuhan has been sited numerous times for lax procedures and they were investigating this virus as evidenced by want ads they placed in local papers asking for people do do the research on this type of virus. The virus originated from a bat species that is not native to the Wuhan area. The closest colony is over 500 miles away. The bats are not sold in the wet market (which they blamed for the infection) but the bats are used in the lab as research animals. The evidence is still circumstantial but is mounting. Early reports from scientists in China suggested an accidental infection in the lab - not deliberate and once out in the wild, the virus spreads like wildfire. Those scientists are now dead. It is extremely contagious although not as deadly as first thought. For 6 weeks, the Chinese lied about transmission human to human. All that time, they were trying to obtain the patent for retsifin (something like that) which is an anti-viral that shows promise in the treatment of COVID-19 as well as buying up all the PPE they could get their hands on.

The Chinese didn't unleash this on the world deliberately but given their cover-up, they might as well have. No other country in the world had any idea of the contagiousness of the disease because the Chinese hid it from us and WHO corroborated their story, so there was no way to put measures in place early enough to prevent the contagion. The Chinese did nothing to protect the world (that is in theory the reason for WHO and China belongs) and did lots to protect themselves. They could have been forgiven for the accident but covering it up and taking care of only themselves makes them responsible for hundreds of thousands (I think we're over 200,000 now) of deaths, many of which could have been avoided if we were warned to take precautions. Preventing internal China travel but allowing international travel - is that the action of a good neighbor? Buying up all the consumables the medical people needed -is that the action of a good neighbor? China has proven itself to be untrustworthy and we need to disentangle ourselves from them ASAP. They make way too much of our medicine and other items critical to national security. Their newspapers have threatened to withhold medicine. Granted the Chinese government didn't threaten us but their press did and their press is under the control of the Communist Party so take the threat seriously. Let companies like Apple and even the NBA move to China and give up their US "citizenship" if they think China is a better market.

The accident was forgivable. The cover up is unforgivable.

A reporter asked him you were so sure this disease is not serious
At the time he was telling us it was not serious, he was repeating the information he was getting from China, WHO, and the epidemiology experts in the CDC.

Unlike politicians who spend hours looking in the mirror practicing answers to every conceivable question, Trump just spits out the first thought that crosses his mind. It's not a good look and it just gives the media more fodder. But it doesn't matter anyway. No matter what he says, he's wrong according to the press. He's had a tough three years. He gets no break. It's hate, hate, hate from dawn to dusk. He's a racist for shutting down flights from China. He's a xenophobe for shutting down flights from Europe. The House is trying to pass a bill preventing him from exercising his Constitutional powers to control entry to this country. Has any member of Congress apologized for the name calling? Has anyone said he was correct to take that kind of action? No. They've forgotten that and are now accusing hi of not doing enough. Of not acting on information he simply didn't have.

People who don't like Trump should pay less attention to what he says and more attention to what he does. People are so used to being lied to by politicians that they simply can't handle the "stream of consciousness" remarks Trump makes. He would be far better off if he took a breath before speaking rather than just verbalizing what the voice in his head was saying. Sometimes, we shouldn't verbalize what the voice in our head is saying but he is like the little boy who could tell no lie.

Trump did something really interesting a couple of days ago. He knows that whatever he suggests is wrong so he told the press that HE was the only one who could open up the country making them think that he wanted it to remain closed. All of a sudden, everyone is talking about a staged approach to restarting normal life. Well folks, this is EXACTLY what Trump wanted to happen. Maybe he's becoming a politician after all:)

The united states is clamoring for testing, the part I have trouble with is;

Would everyone need to be tested everyday or once a week? Because as soon as you get your negative results, bang you get infected walking out the door. Now you have a false negative result and possibly infecting others.

We've gone beyond the need for testing to see who is currently infected. That would have been extremely useful early on so we would have known what areas to quarantine. Now we need the antibody test which will give us a more reliable indication of the death rate so we understand the actual percentage of those infected who die. Right now, everyone who dies of an infected hangnail is being logged as a COVID-19 death to get more money from the feds.

The corruption has gotten so bad in the US that we have become a Banana Republic.

We've gone beyond the need for testing to see who is currently infected.
On the 28th of April I will have a out patient procedure, 2 days prior I have to take a COVID-19 test.

Five minutes later the test will be invalid.

It's like saving calculated values in a table. As soon as it's done, it could be invalid. Are they telling you to quarantine yourself after you take the test?

The part that makes me feel very sad is that Africa has been spared some of this - but now it appears that their turn is coming, and their combination of poverty and poor education will make them easy victims. Some reports I have seen suggest over 300,000 deaths coming to Africa once COVID-19 starts up with them. And that 300,000 was estimated. It could easily get worse because of the poor health care of the African people, which makes them more susceptible to the disease. It is not good.

Not yet. I am following the federal and local guidelines, I don't want to blow my appointment.

For those who like to dump on Trump. Trump recently proposed to buy oil for the US Strategic Oil Reserve. Guess what, last night the price of oil fell to -$37.63. U.S. Oil Prices Settle In Negative Territory For First Time In Epic Rout. That means oil sellers were paying buyers to take their oil. So Trump had the foresight to "see" that the US government could make tons of $$$$$$ by putting oil into the US Strategic Oil Reserve. So shouldn't you grudgingly acknowledge Trump's genius!!!!

I anticipate a flood of apologies now from those with TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) . 😊😊😊

PS: Of course the buying and selling of oil is complicated, so the simplistic scenario portrayed above may not be exactly realistic. But it makes for a good punch line and it also points to how those who condemn Trump manipulate facts to make Trump look bad.

I've often thought that since Trump was a billionaire, TV star and president, it seems rather strange to accuse the man of being stupid! In my view, outlier achievements require the opposite: super-smarts. Everybody makes mistakes, but if someone has repeated success, to me it is probably due to outthinking others. But then I am not an outlier, so what do I know.

un-knowing, not stupid, just like richard. neither man can be blamed for what they do, because they're doing the same thing they did thousands of years ago.

Evidently Mark Zuckerberg, under the auspices of "harmful misinformation" is censuring those who do not agree with government Covid-19 guidelines. Very "1984" of Zuckerbeg. What gives him the "authority" to unilaterally declare what is true or not true?

Coronavirus protests test Facebook's free speech pledges

The political left claims to be for tolerance and free speech, but given the opportunity they label anything that they do not agree with as "hate speech" and/or "harmful misinformation" that must be suppressed.
