Garry Kasparov, the a former World Chess Champion, made some observations which has moved me more towards supporting US involvement in the Ukraine. Briefly, Kasparov has recognized that Putin keeps escalating the human rights abuses in the Ukraine, while the West declines to match those escalations thereby leaving the bully (Putin) unchallenged and emboldened.

• Sanctions: Biden publicly asserts that crippling "sanctions" are being imposed on Russia. Biden is a known liar and self-serving political opportunist. Biden's State of the Union Address was a travesty an endless tirade of lies. Biden refuses to stop importing oil from Russia, which means that US $$$$ are funding Russia's military efforts. There are increasing reports now that the US is grovelling to reach a deal with Iran to import Iranian oil, should that agreement be implemented the US will indirectly be funding Iran's nuclear ambitions. Biden refuses to consider increasing domestic US hydrocarbon production. Biden's commitment to sanctions appears to be superficial smoke and mirrors that actually emboldens "enemies" of the US. As for the US, Biden uses sanctions for self-serving political opportunism as an excuse to avoid implementing policies that would make the US stronger, which has the undesirable effect of making the US weaker. Biden refuses to match Putin's escalation. Biden's smoke and mirrors "policies" demonstrate that his policies are anti-US.
• China/Taiwan: China is watching. Should the West, specifically the US, fail to support the Ukraine, China will invade Taiwan. This means that the issue of supporting the Ukraine is not limited to simply protecting the Ukraine, but that the Ukraine is one domino in global chess. The next domino, Taiwan. Consequently, there is increased need to support Ukraine with stronger involvement.

Sanctions take time to be effective. How much longer can the Ukraine hold-out? Since the Ukrainians have stood-up and demonstrated that ithe are vigorously opposed to the Russian invasion, it deserves US support before the Ukraine fully collapses.

The Russian troops surrendering reminds me of the First Gulf War when Iraqi soldiers were surrendering.

Too bad we don't have President George Bush anymore. He would have led a coalition of countries to help Ukraine. The senile idiot in the WH is only grabbing billionaires' private jets.

Ron Paul is correct, NATO has outlived it's original purpose. Paul, Gabbard, and others have expressed, the belief that the Russian invasion of the Ukraine could have been avoided since the expansion of NATO eastward constitutes a form of "aggression" towards Russia. Unbelievably, the Biden administration has (purposely???) exacerbated the situation through the use of provocative rhetoric to "poke the bear". Well the "bear" acted. Now what? Unfortunately, how to prevent a Russian invasion of the Ukraine is now "water under the bridge" which regretfully places the West in a position needing to match the escalation by Putin.

PS:

• A positive hope, that there is sufficient Russian opposition to Putin's aggression that would result in his removal from office and the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Ukraine.
• The Ukraine is an independent sovereign country. As such, they "own" the airspace over the Ukraine. Technically, the Ukraine should be able buy aircraft from the US and even ask the US to implement a "no fly zone". Yet the reaction is that this would be an escalation. I will let the lawyers argue that out, but something worth considering. Don't you have a right to defend your territory?
• Where is the UN? Technically, the UN should be preventing this type of aggression.
• Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan was an incompetent debacle. Additionally, Biden has been flaming internal divisiveness within the US. Putin may have interpreted those events as a weakening the US and as an opportunity for him to take aggressive action believing that the US would never respond.
• Biden repeatedly spoke of seeking a "diplomatic solution". However, none of these "diplomatic solutions" seemed to respect Putin's point of view, the threat exposed by NATO expansion eastward. As one example, see Harris's quote below. The Biden administration has been tone-death concerning Russia's interests.
• The following (arrogant) remarks below were made by Harris on February 20th, just before Russia invaded the Ukraine. Whether Zelensky was actually intending to join NATO or not is not known, but it would have sent a disturbing message to Putin. Biden himself implied that a "minor aggression" by Russia into the Ukraine would be considered "tolerable" by the US. This mixed messaging is the sign of an incompetent administration.

And one of, again, the founding principles of NATO is that each country must have the ability — unimpaired, unimpeded — to determine their own future, both in terms of their form of government and, in this case, whether they desire to be a member of NATO.
And I’ll put that in context, because the obvious is also the point, which is that: and therefore no other country can tell anyone whether they should or should not join NATO. That should be their independent choice. That is the point of sovereignty. So I respect President Zelenskyy’s desire to be a member of NATO.

These measures are meant to punish Russian citizens based in Russia, and of course discourage foreigners to live in Russia, in the hope that the people will rise against Putin, but I think Putin might not mind losing a lot just to take over Ukraine, absolute power corrupts, the nuclear power/ military of Russia is what gives their leaders soo much boldness.

Is Biden a Quisling? Biden is a known liar. That raises that his assertions of "support" for the Ukraine are nothing more than meaningless word-salad hot air. (Harris is an expert at meaningless hot air word-salad rhetoric.) The Russian invasion of the Ukraine has exposed that the Western nations are too dependent on oil from countries such as Russia as a consequence of moving towards "green energy". Nothing wrong with moving towards "green energy", the problem is that the need for keeping the oil flowing is that the Biden administration "slow walking" any consideration of banning Russian oil imports and is even floating the potential of buying oil from Iran and Venezuela who are not friends of the US. Essentially, instead of encouraging domestic US oil and gas production, the Biden administration wants to makes deals with the "devil". Since these countries are not our friends, they potentially could hold that oil as a hostage for demanding that the US comply with certain policies. The word "puppet" comes to mind, the US would be in a position to be manipulated by these countries.

Importing Iranian oil also raises concerns about the US commitment as an ally to Israel. Iran has nuclear ambitions. Buying oil from Iran (as well a removing other sanctions) would provide Iran with additional dollars to fund that research. Would Israel be safe, should Iran develop a nuclear device?

The Ukraine is a serious concern, but it has further highlighted the question: Does Biden work for US interests?
