The root cause goes back decades. The band aid applied by the liberals certainly was a catalyst for inflation, but it is not the root cause. The root cause was 1970s inflation.

The root cause of the lowering of the middle class to the lower class was not caused by liberals. it was a result of the maturation of capitalism. I know you could care less about learning anything that will take you out of your comfort zone, so I don't expect engagement, only denials.

You should be very careful thinking you know more about the economy simply because someone doesn't drink your MAGA cool aid. A large percentage of the problems Americans are dealing with were directly caused by Trickle Down Economics and Citizens United. Both are extreme right wing initiatives.

By the way I predicted all this economic change in 1987. I had visions of what was coming, I knew in 2005 and early 2006 that the Financial Sector was headed for the biggest crash ever. And it would have been, if Conservative would had had their way.

I have friends who live there and will be going back in September. We are well aware of the heat, we've been going to Palm Springs and the high desert for many years.

Make a decent, high tech wall around the country, then pump some money into hiring enough people to patrol it and maintain the improvements that doubtless will be found needed as its weak points are assessed in real time. Stop flying people into the country using the border patrol asylum app. Our country is full enough. All we need is a small number of legal immigrants to keep our pot about as melting as need be. An even smaller number of legitimate asylum claims, not just everyone who now claims asylum (kind of like everything your boss asks you for is Expedited).
Not millions coming in in total chaos.

Ok. Who is paying to feed them? Who is paying to house them? Who is paying for their medical treatment? Who is paying for their air flights - which they can board with NO PHOTO ID I might add. Try that as a "citizen". Who is paying to educate their children? Who is harmed when criminal employers hire them under the table? Do a little research into what happened to the salary of butchers in the meatpacking industry when those companies went to mostly illegal alien employees? What happened to the wages of low skilled workers in the building industry? Sure didn't help to lower the price of new houses so someone was making out.

It is immoral to allow people to enter this country illegally only to be treated as slaves. It is also immoral to impose the burden to support them on tax paying citizens. And as we know, when slaves are available, wages for citizens fall correspondingly. And that is yet another immoral outcome.

They need some of those people, yes. And I agree it should have been fixed a long time ago. Some, but not "unlimited"

I would guess that much of that is caused by the overhead caused by excessive regulation. Established corporations have the infrastructure and cash flow and benefit whenever a small, hungry competitor gets crushed and has to give up.

(This is the followup to my comment about failure rates of startup companies.)

Pat, that 80% failure within 5 years is actually not due to regulation, but other expenses that exceed the entrepreneur's cash flow estimates. Business startups take huge capital outlays to buy a venue, hire staff, get a gazillion kinds of insurance, and the under-funded businesses eventually have to choose which kind of insurance they DON'T buy because they can't afford them all. There is the startup loan that is the perpetual hand reaching into your wallet. And it's all a balancing act until you can pay down some of the loans well enough to improve cash flow for the longer term loans.

My previous comment is actually an old statistic. I looked up a few modern sources. One source says first-year startups now fail at 90%. Another says that the success rate might be as high as 18% (2% lower than the 20% success rate it used to be = 82% failure rate.) A third source quotes 70% failure in 5 years. The numbers are all over the place, but in general a LOT more businesses fail than those that succeed. The failures include poor market pre-research, failure to fulfill a need, poor business planning, failure to obtain adequate funding, and a couple of other "gotcha" items.

People don't understand why capitalism is so expensive, but the answer is that the failures represent money that was used for one thing and could not be used for another at the same time. The failure costs cannot be fully recovered. Only the successful businesses can pay back loans. Where does the money go? On the biggest gambling casino in existence - the new business market. And it is truly a craps shoot.
