Well, it's official. Maybe now the news media can talk about something different. :)

Let me know when its save to go back to the tele.

Brian

Is it ever safe? :(

I guess if they aren't talking about President Obama there will be some other drivel to keep them occupied. I've gotten to where I don't watch the national news shows any longer. I just watch the local news shows to see what's going on in my neck of the woods, then I check online to see what's going on at a national level. That way I can pick which stories I want to read. :)

Why did he keep mentioning God? It seems he's set to listen to fairytale voices in his head like Bush did. I thought he was a good orator but he couldn't even repeat words he heard a few seconds earlier.

He's also doing alot for the green issues too by having a new car that does less than 10mpg.

The whole circus today cost over $110 million - I thought things were tight moneywise. We had to endure all that - plus the BBC cut 'The Weakest Link' out of the schedules.

I didn't watch it as I was busy toiling away at my desk (ahem) but someone did mention to me that he stumbled his way through the oath. I'm sure he was probably nervous but like you said, you would think he would be used to speaking under a little bit of pressure by this time.

Didn't see his car, what was it?

So, the BBC cut out your regularly scheduled programs to show our inauguration? Maybe you should call them and complain. :)

Seriously though, I'm surprised by that since it's an American thing. I thought perhaps they would show snippets of it afterward on the news or something but I wouldn't have expected them to show it all.

there is a god --
"plus the BBC cut 'The Weakest Link' out of the schedules."

i have been praying for this for ags (lol)

why does he keep mentioning God

thats to keep the ultra religous on side

its a bit like going to play golf in a thunderstorm and shouting that you hate god when the lighting strikes- play it safe and don't shout - even safer don't play golf

If this Obama guy is so good, how come he hasn't fixed up the economic mess yet?

Because he hasn't organised the back-handers he'll get from the multi million dollar businesses yet. Once he gets that sorted, then he'll organise things so they make even more out of other peoples misfortunes / reposessions and bankrupcy.

Bush made a fortune out of Iraq and cared nothing of killing thousands of Americans in the process, I hope Obama will be a little more subtle.

I guess it could be a little nerve wracking.

Don't know, some big Yankee jobbie.

People have, they don't see why Yanks should have preference over English programmes.

It was a shock to me too. I turned it off. Got sick of it.

I should imagine it will be difficult for Americans to get used to having the first English speaking President since Clinton in the White house.

Did you know the Prez's office is the oval office? That's so he can't be backed into a corner.

Is it still called the White House?

He decided to eat supper instead. :D

Obama's limo is a Cadillac. It has more armour than a tank therefore the poor mileage. The Secret Service ordered it BTW, not Obama.

Because white is still the dominant colour in the USA no matter who is in there.

Col

Good one ....
it is a bit un PC

a better name might of been the first office or some other such rubbish
anyone thnk of a good name for the white house -

the rainbow house perhaps - all nations all creeds etc

Col

Pathetic Col, and if Gary really doesn't know why it is called the White House and history is too difficult a subject then look at the photos and try to think.

Brian

Of course it is and all of us already know why.
Actually it's because it was painted white to hide the fire damage caused by British Rockets during the war of 1812.

Chris Rock, of all people, actually had a great quote about this. I'll pry butcher his actual line, however it went like such:

"Until we elect a black man who is as stupid as Bush, we ain' equal."

And yeah, what stats said about the limo. I wouldn't be surprised if it could take a missile head on and have a % of survival.

And yes, it is nice to have a Potus that can speak the language, if Obama just shows up and sits at his desk 5 days out of the week I believe he will have done more than Bush, considered that's what Bush did but I believe it was only an average of 4 days a week.
