Problem with A2013 running an A2007 database:

After installing an A2007 db (created in 32bit system) on the clients computer 64bit running A2013. The A2013 removes all the VBA and Macros when opening the A2007 database.

Before I installed A2007 to the client's computer my computer crashed (32bit) and windows 64bit was installed.

I then installed A2013 on my 64bit computer and had the same results as above.

The clients computer is running the A2007 database that was on their computer at the time of going from A2007 to A2013 just fine.

Can anyone help me with this problelm?

Richard

that is a bug. Be it in Access ,or the db.
Sometimes access goes crazy and erases ALL the Vb.
have backups handy. Lots of backups.
You cant prevent it, it just happens. BUT it shouldnt happen every time.
If it does, then your PC has a buggy version and you cant use it.

I agree with ranman that this is not normal. But whether it is corruption or a misuse of 64/32 bit Access or some other factor is not clear.

Standard practices still apply--- backUp, backUP, test, test......

So far I remember a dialog-box pop's up before and says, if you continue all macros/code will be removed, doesn't it pop up by you?
As Ranman256 writes, it doesn't happen every time the database is open therefore it is difficult to debug what is going on.
I had the problem with a database 8-10 years ago, with 2 different users.
I can't remember if they had the same Windows system and MS-Access version and computer model. I never found out what cause the problem, because I/they couldn't reproduce the behaviour when I came.

also just to tick off the boxes, are you talking about a single or multi user system? And if the latter, does each user have their own copy of the front end? or are they all using the same copy? And are all users using the same version of Access - 2007...13 and 32/64bit

Hi everyone, the BE is on the server and the FEs are in each of the user's folders on the server. All was working fine until my computer crashed and (I believe that I installed the wrong Office 2007) when I installed it on clients, Access 2013 and my Access 2013, the code was removed. Yes JHB I got the same message and all was gone. I then opened an earlier 2007 db program in Access 2013 and all worked fine.

To me that means the the Access 2007 I loaded is all messed up.

My Clients and myself are now using 64 bit Access 2013 programs.

Thanks for all the input

I am bit confused. In #7 you said you were using 64 bit Access, hence my comment about MS recommendations.

1. After my Computer crashed, Windows 7 (64 bit) was installed.
2. I then purchased Office 2013.
3. Now I am trying to find out if the Office 2013/Access is 32 bit or 64 bit.
4. So far I have not found that out. There is where I need help.

In access, go to File>Help, you'll see it in the 'About Microsoft Access' section
