Funny, I don't remember you saying how those same people couldn't answer because vbaInet was ripping up the posts. I don't know if you noticed but they were posting at an ungodly rate. And I, to some extent, was also posting very heavily.

I noticed, you were even answering the easy ones that I could answer, Pbaldy, Chergh theDocMan and others are the same. You would think that the Forum was run for the benefit of those asking questions. Well its not its so that I can massage my ego.

In those days we had a good little family, (Hayley, Rich, Lyns, Me, Ally, Ken, Mile-O, Brian and others) and we were all mates, we spoke frequently by PM and generally had a good friendly time.

Nowadays it seems that people here (like Bob and his cronies) are only interested in taking the glory and saying "look how wonderful I am" - well to be honest, I'm not interested in answering stuff for that end - I'm not American - so world glory is of no interest.

Yes I know some answers but I'll keep quiet because I would hate to be tarred with their omnipotent brush of glory. I did answer some questions but now Bob is back, forget it. Anyway, I don't log in all day like Bobby and watch the "who's logged on" bit to see who is posting a query so I can answer it first and show everyone how fantastic I am. I actually do have a life, unlike Bob.

Isn't it interesting how much of a fuss he made when he "left" - obviously telling Jon, making Jon start this thread - then after a few weeks he's back and causing so much aggro again.

These forums have been really nice and quiet and well behaved while he was away. Now it's all gone wrong again.

Jon - you'd better start that flame wars bit you spoke about because this isn't going to stop by the look of it.

Maybe Bob would like to comment here? I'm still waiting for him to answer my question from a couple of years back. Silly me! He's too scared to post here.

Well, from what we see on the news, most US military are wounded, either by "the enemy" or their own troops. The US has certainly killed quite a few British troops that's for sure.

So therefore, US troops with "wounds" ranging from a broken nail to so called post traumatic stress (or in the case of females - PMT) they get this purple badge.

You can get them on eBay for about £10 or so, so they can't be worth that much.

I don't think you get a Purple Heart for a broken nail unless it came from a nail gun used by carpenters, or perhaps a nail used as shrapnel from an improvised explosive device.

I know you are anti-American in a lot of things, but the truth is that it doesn't make you look smart. I know you have a lot of tension in your life so will not make this a total slam. I just think you might be a bit more selective with regard to your curmudgeon-speak posting.

Technically it wasn't given to him by the military. Just by someone who had one that wanted to give it to him.

Either way, by giving it to known warmonger it's value by a serviceman is obviously not held in high esteem by those awarded it

Rich, I do not defend George Bush for being a brilliant man. We all know better. While he was President, he was the leader of my country. I still respect my country enough to keep quiet about its policies. (Not to mention that as a Dept. of Defense contractor, I have to be careful.) But I can tell you that politically I think GWB was a total waste of skin. It is sad that he came into office at a time when the country was in turmoil and a strong response was needed. It is terribly unfortunate that it was a misguided response.

Having said that, I suggest that if one nitwit wanted to give GWB his purple heart medal, it was a nitwit-to-nitwit transaction, almost peer-to-peer. But don't make the faulty generalization regarding those who get the medal honorably. A friend of mine from my high school days got one - posthumously. He was a MedEvac chopper pilot. Took a cluster of 5 bullets in the neck while trying to save lives. His death was senseless, yes, no doubt. But at least he died in line of duty and trying to help others. Nihil nisi bonum de mortibus please.

I don't know where I would be (maybe on a beach) if it wasn't for Forums such as this one and the support of members like Bob.

Here in PNG, you can not just go down the road to an IT specialist to get advice as if they do exist (in the field of your current problem) they are either expensive or unreliable or some times both.

Looks like you haven't left but thanks still deserved.
