All, I have customized the ribbon at 'Access Options Customize ribbon', made my changes (to Print Preview so that only both the 'print' & 'close' options exist). I wish to make a copy of this customized ribbon, so i select 'Export all Customizations', browse to my folder & select 'save' but nothing is saved!. What am I doing wrong?. Seems so straight forward.

Appreciate some assistance.

Check the folder again. You should find a small text file is created. It is called Access Customisations.exportedUI.
The file can then be imported into other databases as required.

@isladogs , Tried again but it doesn't export. Did a search of my entire M/C in case the save location went strange but no luck. Also tried doing same on my older PC (32 bit access) same result. All I'm doing is selecting 'Access Options' then 'customize ribbon', making my changes then selecting 'import/export' export all customizations. Then I browse to my 'save' folder (and I've tried several) then select 'save'. Doesn't work!

What can I be doing wrong?

Hmm. Sorry but I've no idea.
Here is the file I get using this approach: - Access 365 v2209 build 16.0.15629.20152

@isladogs , that is exactly what i expected. Thanks. Upon reflection, what i've been doing is opening my project then selecting the file option etc menu to customize tool bar. Maybe i should not have been in my project but just open access then 'customize toolbar'. Will try this when i get a moment.

i think that is a bug.
i also found a bug in msa 2021 x64.
when i make make an export/import specification, it does not give any error when
you save the file.
but when you look for the spec, it is not there, not saved.
no matter how many times you tried.

I can't replicate the issue and have run this successfully in both 32-bit & 64-bit Access 365.
However, I'm not sure which version of Access you are using.

If you can provide details of your Access/Windows version & bitness, I'll forward this as a possible bug
If you wish, you could use my Access/Windows version checker for this:

@arnelgp
The OP is trying to export a customised ribbon from Access options
He isn't referring to saving import/export specifications.

i know and i can export it.
what is not working though in my a2021 x64 is that
it is not saving my import/export spec.

IIRC, you originally downloaded your copy of Office 2021 from a bit torrent site.
If so, its quite likely there will be missing features.

missing features
that is not the case.
it is always updated.

even if it won't create the spec, i know a
work around and doesn't handicap me.

@isladogs , I downloaded your add-in but get an error message upon installation. The message reads 'Error 3073 in Form_Load Procedure. Operation must use an updatable query'. It happens after the version info missing pop-up displays. I'm running windows 11 & 66 bit Access (office 365 legit copy).

Sounds like you have somehow opened it read only so it can't populate the table with version info.
Check that you have
1. Unzipped the downloaded zip file
2. Unblocked the 'mark of the web' property that is now added to all downloaded files
3. Saved it to a trusted location. Preferably your add-ins folder as described in the article
4. Not opened two copies simultaneously. If so, the second copy is read only

@isladogs , got it to install. But do not see the add-in in "add-in" manager, but will do a restart & try again. The problem was that the install ADDINS folder was not a trusted location. Thus, the app would not save there. Fixed now. Please see my post above of my Access version details. I also note that the operating system is stated as 'Windows 10'. It is indeed windows 11. The version details are correct.

Back to the task at hand. I cannot export custom ribbons.

Yep, a restart fixed the add-in. now visible on the 'add-in' drop down.

Colin, thanks for your generosity. This is a most excellent addition to Access.
