Hello, I'm a bit stuck, could use some help please.

I've got an encrypted Access 2007 database that I made.
If I try to save it as a copy, or compact it, or save a backup, or decrypt it, the following happens.
It asks me for the password several times in a row, so I type it in each time.
On about the 3rd time every time it says 'not a valid password'; I click 'OK'.
It asks me for the password again.
And then nothing - the copy or the backup is not saved.

I've been tolerating this for ages, because I can still save copies in Windows Explorer for backup (although the copies have the same problem). But I really need a decrypted copy now, and I can't do it.

Any ideas really appreciated.

have you tried to remove the password - you need to open it in exclusive mode then you can remove the password. Compact or whatever and then resecure the db

Yes. Ta, but the same happens whether I open in normal mode or exclusive mode, and whether I try to save as a copy or to decrypt.

Are you talking about an accde or accdb? If the latter, perhaps the database has become corrupted in some way.

Have you tried creating a new database then importing all of the different objects?

Have now, and it did the job, thank you so much for the suggestion. Seems obvious now, but I didn't think of it.
Yes, it is accdb.
I'm loving having a database that now actually works properly!
Thank you CJ_London.
