Coronavirus - are we all doomed?

In a word.... NO. It did, however, make me shake my head a bit.

On another topic, Adam, you just gave a new member some advice. Her question was about relationships. You told her she needed to learn how to use Google. You don't seem to get it. That wasn't productive at all.

If you can't give more specific advice - at least better than "how to Google" - don't get involved. When I saw what you did, I had to step in and try to give Elena something she COULD look up. Her problem clearly was not knowing keywords to search, not a problem of how to search at all. How do you think she got here in the first place EXCEPT by searching?
Referring to using keywords to search Richard, have you seen the webpage that I have put together? I think not. Do you want me to let you in so u can see how to let beginners figure this stuff out? I will let you in if you want to look to humor yourself.

Doc, although I admire your patience, I have to ask: why bother?

Here is how the Italians (Sicilians) are coping. They are discouraged to come in contact so the decided to have some fun anyway.

Going to miss this place...

NG: Presumably, Adam thinks even my soul is worth saving.

I believe the soul of this forum is worth saving.

And I'm not going to address your other comment because I know you are in the wrong mindset

Ah, that is true - electronic things don't have souls - but the people who take part in a forum? Perhaps they are a higher function of the electronics.

Need more loo roll (2).png

I do think a little perspective is in order. See below regarding the flu stats from the CDC and then compared to COVID-19 stats we see constantly in the news.

what the hell is that image supposed to be of, CJ!? LOL. I skeletal apocolypse instead of zombies!?!? FYI - I've been told that the TP hoarding is over now.

Hal 9000, may disagree. Then there is skynet. Have you wondered, when you took the teleporter, that you remain you?

Do Androids Dream?

"Do robots have souls? Do clones? Can a computer have a sense of humor? Do Androids Dream?note It has been asked in many forms, but the fundamental question is always, "what makes us human?" And is it possible for an artificial intelligence or life form to possess those same qualities?"

I did read one very Heinlienisk story, where an inventor developed a device that could tell if a person had a soul or was simply a machine. Very chilling consequences when tested.

@Weekleyba Forgive me if I add to that perspective.

Some facts:
  • If you have the Coronavirus, you are 1,000 times more likely to be hospitalised then if you have the flu.
  • The death rate for flu is well under 0.1%. The death rate for Corona is estimated by many to be 1-2%. i.e. it is about 20 times more deadly than flu.
  • Corona lasts about 3 days on surfaces. Flu lasts 2 days.
  • Corona is more infectious than flu.
  • There is talk that millions will die in the US, as opposed to tens of thousands due to flu.

We have had pandemics before, and at least 1,000 Americans died as recently as 2009. The difference is the reporting, nobody wanted Obama out of office, CNN MSNBC and others hate Trump more than they love America or the world for that matter. A lot of this hording is due to the media over the top bias reporting, compare the non hysteria in 2009 to the bat ass crazy reporting now.

Its all about power, they don't care if you kill yourself over toilet paper, it just makes their skewed point.

i was simply telling someone at Perkins this morning that the world would be much better off without news agencies.

Corona is serious, for sure, but, your last point, "millions will die" is what is driving people crazy. The media needs to be more responsible with what they put out to the public. What I've read so far is, unless you are elderly or have some immunocompromised condition, when you are diagnosed with COVID-19, they send you home. No meds, just self quarantine until it passes. That's what has been done with a couple of cases close to me. Anyone have similar experience?

How is that irresponsible? Have you done the math?
