"there is far too many spelling errors and worse the use of incorrect words"
Oh, the irony :D

My point is to attempt to write as well as possible. That is the act that shows respect.

There are people who do appreciate how difficult it is to properly communicate respectfully to others. I also have more challenges then others but I do my best just as you do.

My point is to attempt to write as well as possible. That is the act that shows respect.

That is what happens if you change your mind whilst writing and don't go back and reread, I'd like to say I did it deliberately, but nope.

It takes a big man to admit his error and, in the spirit of the season, I shall let this one slide. ;)

It must be very difficult for the Northern English, Canadians and Americans to be grammatically correct, and also in spelling.

I realise correct English is not their first language.

i meant no disrespect. in fact, you may notice that my spelling and grammar (other than the capitals thing) is quite astute in general - even vocabulary.

i only use all lower-case in forums and other informal arenas. i use capitals in formal and written (paper/letter/etc) situations, and of course, my spoken english is capitalised ;)

and english is, in fact, my third language. my english is much, much better than most other's english that i see not only on the forums but in day-to-day dealings.

i think spelling and grammar is much more important than some silly capitalisations. if you look at different languages around the world, many of them capitalise in very different situations. it was upon this realisation that i stopped capitalising - i see it as much more 'international'.

and no, i have not gone back and to re-read my post - it's christmas day and i'm chillin' with my girl before a big christmas dinner at the in-laws ;)

take it easy, man.

hope you all have a nice day.

I agree. Her English is much better than many of the grammar Nazis on this site. Before you berate her, go back and check all of your own spelling and grammar...many of you got it wrong at least once per thread.

Or just get over it. Your choice.

I lived and worked there for 3 years. Correct grammar and spelling were non-existent.

The men cared more for beer, and the women were the same. The only difference between them is the women can spit farther.

There's no class in Australia - Americans would get on well there.

Col

that just depends on who you socialise with. as for class, you seem to have precious little of that yourself.

but hey, at least you use capitals, right? the world is safe again!

...many of you got it wrong at least once per thread.

Should be "many of you have got it wrong. . . . . "

Also, there is no excuse for being slovenly when writing, it is an excellent opportunity for many to learn English by reading the posts of other people.
It is totally wrong to deliberately use grammar and punctuation incorrectly.
It gives a message that the poster could conduct their life in a similar lazy and don't-care manner.
What's next? Posts written in textspeak? No thank you.

Or, for example - how many people here dress for dinner every night? Not many I'll bet. I do, things should be done properly.

However, I do understand Wiklendt is under a major disadvantage being in Australia, never have I come across such a slovenly populace.

Thanks for the "correction". Now, did you go back and check all your posts? Don't make me have to do it for you because I know I've seen many slovenly examples of poor grammar and/or spelling in your writings. Not that it matters that much.

I admit I do make errors on the odd occasion. I never said I was perfect. (I'm not American)

However, I do at least try to get things right instead of deliberately destroying the English language like some here who can't be bothered.

Sounds like a good time. Maybe on my next vacation I can visit Sydney!

Ok, I'll tell you. Everytime we turn on the news we see America going on about something or other. It reckons it is the ruler of the world, it dictates to everyone else what they should or shouldn't do.

I just wish America would just shut up and let people get on with their lives.

All America seems to achieve is to make matters worse or end up killing thousands of innocent people. I really don't know why the USA thinks it is so great.

Thanks for the straight response. There have definitely been some things that our politicians didn't handle well. I took a class on Africa in college and cringed at most of the things that we did to "help" Africa. Not to mention other things like the Bay of Pigs, Operation Eagle Claw, and I suppose I might as well through in our current economic crises.

uh-ha. i bet doing things 'properly' in your household includes you being the bread-winner, while your wife stays at home looking after the children she bore for you and starches your shirts and then only makes conversation at the table if permitted and obeying your commands...

that is, if conversation is even allowed at the table.

...classy.

However, I do understand Wiklendt is under a major disadvantage being in Australia, never have I come across such a slovenly populace.

yeah, i often think "poor me" and "why me - why!? why!!!? oh why am i slovenly derelict whose only skill is distance-spitting!?? why hast thou forsaken me, Lord!!!!!!!??"

better stop before i break a nail, huh?

you want to talk about respect and deliberately doing things wrong? how about stating by using my username correctly. it's registered as "wiklendt", not "Wiklendt".

respect begets respect. you need to give a little to get a little.

Neither of us work, we don't need to.

while your wife stays at home looking after the children she bore for you

We have no children, we can't stand the little brats.

and starches your shirts

That's why we employ a housekeeper. Anyway, who starches shirts these days, our housekeeper only does the washing and ironing as far as clothing is concerned.

and then only makes conversation at the table if permitted and obeying your commands...

Conversation is allowed, but not with a mouthful of food.

yeah, i often think "poor me" and "why me - why!? why!!!? oh why am i slovenly derelict whose only skill is distance-spitting!?? why hast thou forsaken me, Lord!!!!!!!??"

Your lord hasn't forsaken you, that's just the way Aussie sheila's are. It's quite normal for you. One day culture will sweep across Australia and you will then be allowed to join the rest of the civilised nations.

better stop before i break a nail, huh?

You actually manicure your nails?

It is correct grammar to use a capital letter for a name.

respect begets respect. you need to give a little to get a little.

That's what I am trying to teach you, at last something seems to have got through into your pretty little head.
That's enough for today, we'll continue tomorrow perhaps when you haven't got shopping on your brain.I won't keep you now, it's the 26th December, so it's a big sales shopping day for you - imagine all those shoes and bags you can get at reduced prices.

Shouldn't that be "realize," or is that another word you will claim was destroyed by other countries?
