Hi,

Trying to line up buttons on a form so they touch, using decrease spacing
Have lots of forms with lots of button so manually lining up it tricky.

From others it implies can decrease spacing vertical or horizontal can be done right up to the point they touch.
Mine always has a gap, 2mm approx. always the same.
I can manually move closer to touch or overlap but tricky to get exact.

All the alight left, right & widths etc all work fine & as expected.

Removed padding, grip size, snap to grid etc etc & any other option I can think of.
Does it throughout this database.

I have another database and it works fine & I can close the gap fully but I can't see a setting anywhere.

access 2007.

thanks I/A

no real suggestions except perhaps the border colour is set to the same as the underlying section?

Hi,

Sure nothing to do with background colour,
I have tried many new test forms and all the same.

Have attached a picture although not too clear, forums file size limit makes tricky to get good examples.
All the new test forms have flat buttons and still very clear between border lines on button a few mm gap for sure.

This has shown up other issues, not important at moment but interesting.
Newer (still in 2007) databases seem to have lost ability to have raised buttons, option greyed out.
All my previous database still have this effect. I wonder if to do with the AutoFormat thingy/theme, not investigated properley yet but can't seem to go back.

I was suggesting border, not background, color, but can see they are raised so academic anyway.

I've not experience the problem. Rather than selecting all the buttons, have you tried:
selecting just the top buttons (Dogs/Cats) and reducing horizontally? does that work? if so,

then select the buttons to the left (dogs/register/notes etc) and reduce vertically,

finally select the register and exit buttons and reduce horizontally, and then align top

Are you group them in layouts?
If you zip files, then the file size can be 2MB.

Hi,

Not sure what you mean by "groups in layouts"

I have tried in pairs & every combination conceivable,

Have made new forms new databases etc etc.
Tried for a hours.

Weirdly an older database is fine, same version 2007 but any new ones & this older one with the dogs just don;t work.

Really weird. I have had this problem for a year and tried from time to time & always given up.

I would move manually but this is only one of many and that is just a small selection of what I have throughout.

thanks again.

Try going to

Options - Current Database – Application Options

and unticking 'Use Window-themed Controls on Forms'

and see if that solves the problem.

That fixed it, the ....

Options - Current Database – Application Options

and unticking 'Use Window-themed Controls on Forms'

The buttons were then lined up without me having to adjust.

However has made quite a lot of my other forms look a little strange, mainly borders thicker & colours a little off.
I think I will stick with the Non-Windows theme and adjust all the other stuff as I think it will be better in the long run,

Thanks again.
