I know what gives me the impression of a thug... 90% of the people in the HipHop scene. And not just because their musical tastes are uninspired, rediculous, monotonous, self-righteous, rubbish . Because it's also the popular dress/speech/conduct with the majority of those who commit the higher profile crimes. Because of the numbers, you consider them with more apprehension. It's not racial profiling, it's life. While I understand that entire subculture cannot be criminal, in order for me to care about their "perceived badness", they would need to start vilifying that criminal segment instead of "singing" it's praises.

I also tend to be leary of Italians wearing leather, open shirts, and multiple gold chains, but that's because I watch too many movies
