I'm ashamed of our government

George W Bush and his puppeteers ruined the chances of the planet to do something in time. These men and the Republican Party in general will be remembered for their evil, greedy, amoral motives. McCain avoided being included by failing to be elected. Had Republicans reigned another term we would have had no hope.

are you seriously backing the democrats? god help us... if they don't cause a run on the banks after their reign of ruining us, I'll kiss your bottom!

Obama has been great for gun sales in America and even better for reloading components. But causes short supply for us in Ausatralia.

I think a lot of people let their bias cause them to under estimate the US of A.

gun sales lead to a great chance of civil war mike. yay for you and your hobby.

1. all our government is; are good old boys keeping themselves rich

no argument here, but alas, Obama changes "good ol' boys" to "anybody". If I do remember correctly, most "good 'ol boys" are white boys. I don't Obama can be put in that pool.

The hole was dug by the Bush government turning public money into death and destruction to profit his militarist cronies. Their refusal to control the malpractices of the financial sector was pivotal in the collapse.

I doubt that Obama can fix it. You are probably right about the inevitable ruin but you are pointing the finger at the wrong man. Such a pity the Republicans were able to cheat their way back into office for Bush's second term.

Yes this government is left saddled with the mess BUSH left behind,
how odd that you're not ashamed of that administration:rolleyes:

Actually, the coming "demise" of this country goes back to Reagan. Bush was just a shallow half-baked Reagan wannabee. Now we have a President who is an empty "image". Forbes has a really good article on the emptiness of Obama receiving the Noble Peace Prize.

The "real" problem, as I see it, is that our corporate and political leaders (both parties), lack any sense of obligation for working for the benefit of the American people. All they seem to care about is getting elected, acting important, funding pork projects that we can't pay for. We have become an "entitlement society" without any sense of responsibility or concern that we are down an unsustainable path. Maybe, I should take up learning Chinese? They may own this country soon and when they foreclose?

To a degree I wrote about some aspects of our pending decline: A National Disgrace II and A National Disgrace. I won't bore you with a longer (endless) list.

I am probably pointing the finger at the wrong man, you are right. However, the point is that it's VERY disturbing to see the fake nature of the democrats now carrying on what Bush started, but covering it up until the curtain is inevitably unvealed or until they can't hide the lies anymore . But then again, if they told the truth, there would probably be war in our country, and they certainly don't want that! Anything to keep the power, right?

Actually, the real problem, as in most counties, is that we vote in anybody who promises us the biggest tax cuts, whether they are affordable or not.

Very shortly, the US citizens will have to take on board that like all 'empires' of the past, they have fallen from grace and will become minor players

does this mean I should consider moving out of the country? I have a long life to live, and I'd like to live it with a leader, if there is going to be one anymore. I personally think there will not be one. Everyone has WMD's, don't they? If that's the case, who wins? The one that promises to destroy the most?

Don't know - ask the Poms, they have much experience in crumbling empires.

As for a long life, don't hold your breath - according to reliable sources, the world has to produce twice as much food as it does now by 2050.

Given about 60% of the world's population NOW doesn't have enough to eat, what's the chances of meeting this target????

I repeat, the easiest answer to all of this is to reduce the human population - starting with non-smokers who are obvious tax avoiders!!!!!

LOL :). You are correct. I am reminded of the Roman bread and circuses.

Adam,
I have to agree with you. What I don’t understand is why some people in this country cannot see how phony they are. For example, Nancy P. Claims to be a defender of union. Yet her and her husband own hotels and vineyards and will not allow unions anywhere near their business. She wants to limit the private jets of CEO, and yet she jets back and forth on Air Force jets at tax payers’ expense. Al Gore claim to want to reduce energy use yet his house use 10 times what mine does. Obama campaigned on no pork and he has as much pork as any other president. Harry R. claims he is for the people but he does everything behind closed doors. He says this ObamaCare is for the good of the people, but won’t give the people time to study it. If they would let me add one sentence to any of there ObamaCare bills I would grantee a 100% no vote. Here is the sentence. “All Senators, Representatives, President and Vice President would also have to be under the same plan.” If I criticize Obama I am a racist, but actually stupid has no color etc. Jimmy Carter.
To answer Rich at the same time, yes I am not fond of some off the things Bush did, but at least he wasn’t trying to lead us socialist, quite as fast. Please notice I added “quite as fast. There are some republicans that I am ashamed of also. Well I guess that is not fair, as they are actually Rinos.

Dick,

if we are going socialist and heading downward, then how it benefits you depends what side of the fence you are on. If that's our route, I'm in pretty good shape. :D

Adam,
You are so right. I had a professor in college that his favorite expression was “It depends who’s ox is being gored” I am 22 years retired Navy have good medical, a nice little retirement, and a wonderful wife and ministry. I don’t want to lose any of it for anyone who breaks the law.

well I hope you don't. by the way, how was the navy? I've considered going in as an officer for quite sometime. But with the middle east in constant trouble, you never know where you'll end up. I think i'd be a pretty good political guru, but that requires no human feelings I'm afraid. I'm not that good at that portion. I went to see a recruiter one time here in Iowa and he had me take a test for the ASVAB to see how I might score. Took it and he said it was the highest he had seen since being a recruiter. True? Maybe, but then again he has to meet his quota or no bonus, right?

I had some good time and some not so good times in the Navy. I was in many years ago. In fact I participated in the Cuban blockade. I was enlisted. I went to college on the GI Bill. You can always tell when a recruiter is lying, his lips are moving. I preached in Iowa once. I was heading to Des Moines and blew a tire on my RV. It was when Firestone was having so much trouble with their tires. The church that I was at put 7 new (now-Firestone) tires on my RV for me. I like Iowa.

American jingoistic prejudice. A minor example of what is deeply sick with so many in the USA. The strength of the US lies in the obsessive self belief of its people. You have believed you own hype for far too long. The facade cannot be maintained indefinitely.

The economy was given a reprieve by the sale of toxic debt derivitaves across the globe. Don't expect to get away with this deceitful theft again.

Take a look at what has happened to the value of the Greenback in the past decade. You cannot spend trillions on wars while neglecting real development and expect to continue to be cutting edge in anything but war.

The clearest example of misplaced investment is General Motors. They had a cutting edge electric vehicle prototype in beta testing. These cars were recalled and destroyed. Instead they developed the military inspired Hummer and now the company is a good as dead. Would this have happened if the government had focussed on replacing oil instead of trying to dominate the Middle East in an expensive and futile effort to secure oil supplies?

Wake up America.

Whats the Aussie car industry doing - and whats the aussies policies on carbon emissions. Worse than the US!

Back to the wine - I saw a bottle of aussie reserve (ie some of the btter stuff) the label said it was good with a sausage caserole or minty lamb burger.

The problem with the strength of the aussie dollar - is that most aussie produce is bought cos its cheap - whether it be housing, coal, Timorese oil , wine etc

When the cheapness/value has gone - so has the reason to buy anything australian.
