Can someone answer why it is possible to vote in the US elections now, when there is still 2 weeks or so to go till polling day?

Why do you not all vote on the same day?

Col

Because we have this new thing called EARLY voting in 30 or so states. It's actually a good thing - they never set up enough polling places to accomodate everyone who wants to vote, so by opening them early, more people get to vote overall.

So 20 states miss out on the opportunity to cast a vote early - that's democracy. Are the 30 states McCain states or Obama states?

Maybe the rest will catch up with the trend next time?
It is a mixture of red and blue states.

Seems odd to me, the USA election is on Nov 2nd (except in the states where they have been voting for over a week)

Sounds like a recipe for vote rigging.

Actually it's on Nov 4th.

There is plenty of vote rigging, disenfranchisment, and intimidation going on all around the country, but I don't think it is because of early voting. It is because we have the most ridiculous archaic nonsensical system of registering and voting possible. Our system has a margin of error of about 5%, so I just hope this election isn't close.

Don't forget the military vote. All the soldiers sailors marines and airmen serving overseas cast their votes on the their bases. You fill in which state you want your vote to count in. So if a bunch of service men/women from California decided they didn't like a certain Senator from Texas, they could just state on thier ballots they were from Texas and possibly vote him/her out of office.

You also have "mail in" ballots for those Americans who live abroad. Even though you are from Wyoming, you too could state you are from Texas and vote against the Senator.

A better system is needed. How about stating on a US passport which state you are from. The same with a service man's ID. On the adance election day(s) you would attend at a US Embassy or Consolate and cast your ballot in person. When you show your passport or service ID, you get a ballot that lists only the candidates from that state.

I am not a total expert, but it is my understanding, that Late registration and early voting are being allowed this year. I hope someone can elaborate

When Obama supporters go to Obama rallies, are they calling McCain a terrorist and saying that he should be killed?

Terrorist - true. Kill him? No as proven WRONG by the Secret Service investigation. Keep spreading lies.

At least Obama's people aren't being persecuted for their political stance.

Who is conducting the violence? Who is instructing the violence? I am wondering if it was part of the "get in their face" (literally) that Obama wanted his disciples to do?

In regards to racism, I wonder if this will be considered a hate crime since the assailant is listed as dark skinned and the victim white and a female? I wonder if considered a hate crime because it was "apparently because of her political views"? Probably not, some liberal double-standard will be invoked or the whole thing totally ignored.

dK, you know it's ok. Surely the woman is lying and is a hatemonger anyway, so it really doesn't matter. Oh, and another thing that makes it not matter is that it happens constantly, like millions of times a day, maybe even billions of times a day, to Obama supporters. I'm sure Obama didn't mean to cut their face when he said "get in their face"...he was probably stuttering that day. Oh, and I'm sure it's a hoax anyway 'cause it hasn't been proven. All the other things where terrible things are constantly happening to Obama supporters are proven 'cause they're on the internet, so they must be real. This can't be real cause it just can't happen and it looks like she's white. And she said the guy was black so she's a racist. And not only that, Sarah Palin spent a lot of money on clothes and hair so this couldn't have happened. Oh, and remember the Keating 5? This couldn't have happened because of that. Oh, and Bush sucks...definitely couldn't have happened because of Bush and his murderous ways. Oh, and Iraq, too. Oh, and Hezbolla loves McCain. Or is it Obama? Well, either way, this can't be true because of that. Yeah, this is a hoax and you must be a racist, 'cause you don't support Obama and that lying lady said the guy who attacked her, who didn't attack her, was black. You just don't get it, do you? You probably won't support Obama when he becomes president.

Next time wait 24 hours for the police to declare the whole thing a hoax

Even the VP of Fox News agrees that McCain is guilty of race baiting.

Nah, I disagree. Just like the 'kill him' bit and every other lie from the Dem/Lib camp that never gets addressed or that never go with apologies, I still say that it is true. I bet that Obama's camp sent his thugs to threaten the lady's family and get her to turn on her story.

No stinking way ... I am taking the democratic left-wing view so the news reported it therefore it has to be true no matter what they say afterwards.

Honestly, what the Hell are you talking about?

KDKA reported it. I can understand due to their broadcast range you wouldn't get to view it but those of us who are able to watch it nightly can verify it's just about the most watered down boring news ever, oh except for the danger stories.

You know, "Tonight on KDKA New Casino plans, Steelers, High School Sports team wins, and how you and your family may be at risk of dying a horrible death walking down the street or eating at your favorite restaurante."

Liberal Headlines AmIRight?

This chick who came from Texas to PA to work phone calls for the McCain campaign who ended up beating herself up and disfiguring her body - I hope she gets/is given the help she needs. Luckily in our state previous record has a lot to do with your sentence. She has no prior record and a history of mental illness, even though filing the false report is a felony I would be surprised if she even goes to jail.

Since I've now disclosed part of my location this may as well be a good time to bring this up.

My Congressman, John Murtha (yes I voted for him and will continue to) recently called all of us a bunch of racists. Unlike most of the country who seem offended, most western PA citizens are either 1.) laughing 2.) trying to figure out that word 3.) agreeing. For Chrissakes a man in Johnstown (Where Murtha's Main Office is Located) Brought a Curious George Doll with an Obama Sticker wrapped around it to a Sarah Palin rally.

But that's just an isolated incident, right? Just 1 guy. Sure but one does not simply wake up and parade bigotry (One does not simply walk into Mordor either yuck yuck) in the street much in the way most people simply do not wake up when they are 45 - 50 and go out and murder/ra**. This man was in a climate where he felt comfortable. And what speaks to me most is not that this man brought the silly doll and sticker and tried to construe the racism, it was that he felt comfortable doing it, so much so as to come to the camera and show it off.

I mean . . . really?

I have to laugh, that is pretty much the case where I grew up, except I would have modify option 3 to high-fiving because those idiots are that damn proud.

What I was on about is playing the individual representative of our national press (and other individuals) here in the same manner that they do. Make a media darling of a particular candidate and push lies as truth even after they have been shown as false.

Racism is perfectly natural with all animals. In essence we don't like things that are different.

With the expansion of very big business it is natural that immigration will be huge. This is one of the reasons why the media (part of very big business) runs the pacifist line. Between the strains of immigration and the strains of trying to communicate with the bank or phone company many people hit breaking point. Usually manifests as mass killings, suicides etc and etc.

People like Alisa, Rich and others are yet to realise that they live in a pretend world. The human is an animal and legislation will not change that fact.

There will be a lot of violence due to the creation of an artificial situation. For example, does Alisa really beleive she can sit on her arse and Obama will deliver. Does Alsia really believe that the world owes her a living because she works 40 hours a week?
