Inauguration

I should imagine it will be difficult for Americans to get used to having the first English speaking President since Clinton in the White house.

Clinton spoke English?

They must have shown you only the filtered versions over there on your news channels to make him look better.
We look at the whole picture and base our findings on his presidency:p

Apparently, and not many people know this, but Obama is the first black President of the USA.

I swear, I will punch the lights out of the next reporter who tells me this fact right through the TV screen!

Pathetic Col,

Now I suppose you'll tell me white is not the dominant colour in the USA:rolleyes:

I'll bet all the white presidential advisors are spitting feathers at having to creep and suck-up to a mixed race president.

Good one ....
it is a bit un PC

Talking of un PC. It said in the paper yesterday that it was un PC to say you are religious or have anything to do with Jesus or God.
Apparently people now think you have mental problems and it can hold you back in life (getting a job etc)

If someone mentions they are christian then they are branded as wierd.

The whole circus today cost over $110 million - I thought things were tight moneywise. ...

Kinda funny you caught that. Our press had a field day when Reagan was elected after a financial meltdown and spent money on his. The press was going off that the money could be to feed people, buy houses, buy military equipment, etc ...

Now that the Immaculate One has risen, they didn't feel compelled to make the same news out of it.

pretty f*cked up if you ask me

Religion really messes up some otherwise sensible people

Heard on the radio 2day - a interview
where a christian was saying that "morals" were christian and if you weren't a christian you didn't have morals - i ws spitting feathers (they might not of meant it to come out this way) - but i was fuming

I might not belive in a god - but does that mean i don't go along with the values of Chrisitans-islam-buddists - free range chicken eggs - whatever - don't steal, don't kill - right from wrong etc.

it was a lady - and i instanly thought that she had failed as a christian -

that only chrisitans went to heavan - bollcks to that i can mention a few people who valued others and lead lives that were compassionate ..

if there is a big Boss up ther in the sky - is he going to kick Gandy out - or any of the buddists

i rant

I'm afraid that is the normal thinking of many christians. They are always right and the rest are wrong.

Their self centred attitude does wonders to attract people into the church (not)

which is a real shame - the idea of Christianty (?) is a good idea - its just the people who mess it up..
i am sure that there are a vast amount of chrisitans out there who do the right thing and don't shout about it or look down on anyone - its just the loud ones that put everyone off

Since when has religion not been a weird thing? I'm young, granted, even though I was raised by a family who prescribed to a religion I still always thought everyone was bat sh&% crazy.

I mean, after all, how do you get:
"You shall not make for yourself a graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I The Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate Me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love Me and keep My Commandments."

From:
"Thou Shalt make for yourself no molten Gods."

Doesn't the last line of the book talk about what happens to people who alter the scripture? They're all loons and it is a handicap in some way.

It's interesting you would post this, we just talked about it in church last night. There was a guest speaker there and he was talking about Jesus and how he sought out the sinners, criminals and tax collectors to dine with. Of course the religious people, the Pharisees and scribes, etc. were asking him why he would seek those people out while they themselves looked down at everyone else as being lesser than themselves, because they saw it as a defilement.

It's true, unfortunately, that some Christians look down their noses at others but they are missing the point I'm afraid. ;)
