Having a project is a great way to learn.
The important first step is to work out the table structure required to store the information and run them by us in a new question.
Can save you a lot of time by avoiding going down the wrong path.
 
there are templates, of course, available.

That sounds pretty ambitious for a beginner. I wonder whether it is wise to build something like this yourself when there are so many ready-made solutions available.
