Islam - Pure and Simple

So why have a dig at the Yanks?

Brian

Because the yanks are the self proclaimed biggest christian believers, yet are also the most willing to kill anyone either by war, or by their own gun hand on the street.

Col

I don't think that answers the question, as the thread had not mentioned any of the points you raise. Strange however that you make no comment on the death of 2 young girls gunned down by muslims, ie the Taliban, for the "crime" of attempting to get an education. Your approach is too biased to be of any value.

Because he can't engage in any discourse without his comfort blanket

Guys

this post was orgainal a point of reference for Aziz - to try and pass some enlightment over Islam and his take on this

Not a post on religion itself -

there are extremist in every religion, Christians, Muslims, Seeks etc...

The UK has a melting pot of cultures and has on the whole benefited from
this, the Brits are pretty tolentent of other religions, and accepting of them , as long as the tolencence is on both sides

90%+ of muslims understand this ,and are equally understanding of this process-culture and accept it, and are probably comfortable with the "British" lifestyle. g

I was convinced by EVIDENCE that God really did exist and have never looked back. Here’s a taster of a Qur’anic verse which is unique in that it is the only verse from over 6000 verses that gives us knowledge as to how the creation of the universe began: -

“Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth (meaning the universe) were joined together (ratq) in one piece, then We (meaning God, the Creator) rent them asunder (fataqa) and We got every living thing out of water. Will they then not believe?”
Qur’an - Surah al-Anbiyaa (The Prophets) 21:30 See also 24:45.

I sincerely hope that you are note citing some Qur'anic passage as proof (in part, at least) of the existence of a Supreme Being? If so, I'll go join Richard Dawkins in the corner and maybe we can sharpen each others' teeth. I'd like to know what you consider "evidence" as, to me, one deistic religion is as hokey as the next due to the lack of evidence and the complete surrender to faith that, in turn, illicits foolish obstinacy.

That's fine and to be fair good luck to him. Nice one Aziz.

But let's be serious here, presenting your ideas to the public domain does give license to friendly criticism and debate, surely?

The UK has a melting pot of cultures and has on the whole benefited from
this, the Brits are pretty tolentent of other religions, and accepting of them , as long as the tolencence is on both sides

This was not always the case Gary. There are several 'racial' terms so deeply embedded in your culture that some are not aware of their origin.

90%+ of muslims understand this ,and are equally understanding of this process-culture and accept it, and are probably comfortable with the "British" lifestyle. g

I read an article in a newspaper when visiting the UK where the government was going to withdraw certain benefits if an individual did not make a sincere attempt to integrate into society (learn the language etc). They interviewed one individual who had been working in a store for over 20 years and could not speak a word of english! Are you sure you don't have a little bit of an integration problem?

Why don't you prove us all wrong...

why? I'm aware of what you think.

I've said good luck to Aziz, if it helps keep the peace in the UK then go for it. You think we'd like another Gaza strip in the UK?

Col

Dan--
Yep you may have a point, however you can always take 1 case and say that this is the norm ...and being English/Brit myself myself might not be one to be objective ..

friendly debate and critism - I am all for
slagging off America on a whim , no - needs to be objective .

as to intergration, the vast majority is intergrated, there are some cultural differnces - and s to the withdrawing of benefits if you don't intergrate - this is parically true - althought not at present

To save money, and help people intergrate , it is being floated that everyone speaks english - given that this is the national laungauge .

doen't Canada (French prov) have the same - you must speak french

only reasonable

however in the UK we have been possible overly torrent on this,
don't alway belive in what you read.

That is not to say that there is no intorrece in the UK . but I would like to think that we are slightly more open minded about this than the impression you are given.Newspaper print stories to sell papers not to acutla represent the true relefection ( I am sure its the same boths sides of the pond) ..

We imbrace differnt cultures a very good example would be our love of curry here , it is probably our national dish now- and India has a large Muslim population

because you've been challenged to engage in discourse without your soggy old moral-status elevating USA is bad blanket...

and surprise surprise you're not interested...

whatever:rolleyes:

Gary I think India is almost 100% hindu and i have a feeling that curry as we know it was invented by the British.

Brian

50-2-1
agree a very sad day, Canada is noted for its tollerence as well and this just marrs a country that has a very good reputation.

and shows ingnoreance , the swass (typo) sysbol acutal means good luck to the Hindus I think, - as we have had a problem here trying to ban this symbol ..

I have had many curries in different parts of India - and I agree they do not resemble the watered down versions we get here.

Col

Brian
nearly
Curry yes -
however need to look into this in more detail
the named "curries " are local
such as
Balti, Vindaloo
but Madras Curry - is indian/english
if that makes sense
where the name of a dish is missing "curry" its a lcoal dish
as to the make up
Seek, hindu,muslim

big civil war just after Ghandi died big split divided the country up into hindu and mulsim 80% and 13% (given that there are a lot of people in India that 13% represents the largest amount of Muslims in the world ) population of India est 1 billion

Gary,

All good points to be sure and yes me being in the US I have to rely on the media etc than what is happening at ground level.

From said source, I've always gained the impression that the UK was over-compensating for it's lesser tolerant past and that the resulting imbalance (ie the guy working in a store for 20 years who couldn't speak english) was now needing to be redressed. Is this a true reflection of what's going on?

Here is a good article on the issue

I think all the Muslims went to Pakistan, but the Sikhs stayed, not sure if they were involved.

Brian

Gary, out of interest, is English your first language? It's just that it's hard to read half your posts when the spelling is so off. I don't know if this is just because you are battering away at the keyboard and not checking what you've written. But I'd like to help you with the spelling of Sikh. ;)
