Irn Bru - made in Scotland from girders - allegedly a great hang-over cure but since no-one in Scotland drinks alcohol how do they know:confused::rolleyes::eek:

They test in on the English, and the odd Exiled Scot :D
The English round my neck of the woods don't drink enough to get hangovers and I never get them (smirk smirk)

Going back to the 80's when I ran a dept of 95% females - I had 148 on my staff. I would hardly ever employ a married woman of child bearing age. I knew that if they got up-the-duff they would scarper off on mat leave and (being the NHS) I always had to get the other girls to cover, no extra staff.

There was always 3 or 4 on mat leave at any time.

I often thought twice if they had an engagement ring on at interview.

the louts would be just as content to sit on the dole

The reason being that women wanted to be independent and in many cases the kids were 'latch key kids', women wanted a career and were not content with doing what they're here for.Now look where it's got us.

But I don't think oumahexi is of child bearing age any longer;)
Ouch, bugger I can feel a black eye coming up.............

Not all of them. I was extremely lucky to have an employer who was happy to let me bring my little girl to work whenever she was on holiday. I had full time staff to look after her, but she preferred to come to work with me, in the toy distributors :D

Some private companies do operate a creche system. The NHS doesn't even offer overtime for its workers. It expects people to work extra time for free.

A toy distributors? Lets see, that's now 3 jobs this week (education, a circus and a toy distributers)

Where do you work now? Spells R Us?

As I recall, it was WWII which forced women into the workplace, a war that was started by MEN as I believe.

Well the likes of George etc. will recall it was actually WW1 that brought the delicate female body into the workplace

Surely you're not one of those geeks that has stayed with the same company all your working life! I'm surprised I've managed six years in this one
I've stayed with mine for over 27yrs, best boss I've ever had:p

That is correct in Britain but remember our american friends took a little time to participate in the world wars. As the US didn't join WW1 until 1917 they probably didnt have time to get many women into the labour force.

OMG! Is it the only boss you ever had :D I thought there were laws agains child labour, never mind fetal labour :D :D
Nah my mother was my first boss, I even cursed her, but of course then it had to be under the breath, and for some strange reason she even knew when I was doing it:mad:;)

Yes I had forgotten that they didn't join in 'till near the end........

LOL, it used to amaze me as well with my mother, until my daughter came along and I found I had these amazing powers too... :D

Yes, I grew up with the term witch:D

Alas, no. Nobody knows exactly where I came from, just that a stork dropped me off one day
Ah yes, I never knew my Father, but then my Mother didn't either:D
