As we have discussed before on the forum, moderating is a bit like herding cats. There are lots of different personalities at play with opposing opinions. A mod often has to make a subjective judgements on whether or not to intervene, knowing that can irritate people or cause friction. It can involve DM's between different users, discussions in the Mods section, and there are also routine tasks such as deleting the endless spam users we get each day.
Whether or not you agree with all of the decisions made, I am sure you can see that @The_Doc_Man's intent is in a positive direction. For this reason, I think he should become a Super Moderator.
The backend gives a little bit more flexibility for a Super Moderator, although most of the tasks remain the same. It is more about the status within the site to reflect @The_Doc_Man's willingness to resolve difficult moderation issues.
