I see the thread I started has been closed, vaguely similar to the previous one which was deleted. No notice, no explanation. Surely if a thread is being deleted or closed and was started by a long term member it is ettiquete to at least advise what is happening.

The thread contained no foul language, and was merely a request from one member to another to explain a remark which I found offensive. The person refuses to even acknowlege any diaglogue, so I continued to ask the question - is that wrong?

I know it's boring and tiresome, I would rather the matter be closed, and will be as soon as I get a sensible reply.

Why am I being dictatorially being chastised? I was not the one who made the remark.

Maybe I should call people names and accuse them of having mental issues - it seems if you do, you get away with it, and the offendee will be the one who gets hounded.

This sounds distinctly paranoid, which is a mental issue, so it seems bob was correct.

Due to popular demand this post has now been closed.

I guess it's not just Rich who isn't fond of bluegrass. :p

For the benefit of those who cannot count past 316 see attached image. I would also like to say that I am not being dragged into this post, so do not expect any future responses.

I am posting in this thread and not that thread

How many is "popular demand"? One person? Two?

Out of how many surveyed?

So it's now wrong to expect an explanation for an offensive remark?

If said threads were closed by such popular demand, should all subsequent threads of the same topic not also be closed by default?
Just wondering, it would only seem to make sense, wouldn't it?

It should be now apparent how little, if any at all, respect Colin has for the forum, the moderators and the members, with his incessant & petulant insistence for answer which he knows very well won't be had and is willing to circumvent the moderators' actions to that end.

Like the boy who cried wolf, Colin simply revel in drama, except that he has resorted to eating dog's dung in public square to incite drama. He says he wants a reply for an offensive remark, which by itself is sensible, yet he has manage to pervert the sensible action into stalking and badgering and utterly ignored the fact that in grand scheme of things, it really doesn't amount to much.

I hope others will take note and refrain from participating in this ridiculous, completely immature & senseless tit-for-tat. Talk about bluegrass music in a new thread, just don't feed Colin any more dog's dung. It's not only for his health but for the forum's health as well.

Thus, instead of replying to this thread, just don't. Report on him for harassment or disorderly conduct if necessary; just don't reply.

What respect did your mate Bobby have for this forum and members?

Quite a lot if I recall correctly. He deleted your account, colins and Mike375 accounts. If it had remained permanent this forum would have been a much better place.

As an outside perspective, I would like to point out that Colin has gone to TREMENDOUSE lengths to receive some form of apology or explanation. While most of us may have seen Bob's comment as a joke or a comment to just get Colin's Goat. If nothing else this should show us all that Colin is truly offended and hurt. While our opinion may be that it was not to be taken seriously, that is not our judgment to make. I learned in grade 8 that no matter how you try to justify a joke, if you hurt someone in the process, trying to further justify it just makes you an ass. I for one, am not in able to judge how a person should take a comment, for the comment wasn't directed to me. Colin is a real person with real feelings and through all this effort I can safely assess that he was genuinely hurt.
That being said, Colin, despite your obvious pain and frustration, sometimes there is no remedy beyond you own internal resolution. You have made many attempts to rectify the situation. Some situations don't get fixed. Perhaps it is time you man up and just chalk this up as a loss. I believe you made your point, there isn't more you can do.

Why drag Mike375 into this ? It is a long time since he upset anybody and is contributing to the tech forums. The scatter gun approach is to be avoided after all that is what Rich and Col are frequently accused of.

Personally I think that Col over reacted to a comment made by Bob in the heat of the moment, but Bob could equally have resolved the issue by a simple apology/explanation.
