Your posts haven't been deleted, just orphaned.

From evidence of this link

it wouldn't be that hard for someone with DB access to the forum to re-hook up your orphaned posts to your current account. This orphaned post has the name 'Rich' attached to it. Just run a query of all posts with no AccountId (thinking about it I bet with your old AccountId) and whatever column with value of Rich and update AccountId with your current AccountId.

Job done.
The user name was put back by the admin of this site, who's going to go through 20,000 odd posts and carry out your suggestion?

Considering it is likely that each of your orphaned posts still has your old accountid assigned to it (as we know referential integrity has not been enforced), it would be straight forward to query all posts with no valid accountid and group by accountid. Your old AccountId would easily be identifiable because no other quantity of orphaned posts (grouped by AccountId) will sum to 20,000 odd. You then have your old accountid - easy from there to run a quick update query on these posts to hook these up to your new accountid.

It might not be as easy as you say. I remember at the time (because I was in the same situation as Rich) that Part Hartman and others investigated the problem.

I think you are assuming that there is as much freedom with this software as a data base in Access you made for yourself.

I'm working on the proviso that you can get access to the mySQL database itself and run SQL statements directly against it.

Here's vBulletin's solution link

It actually is that simple. The question is if anyone that frequents the forum has access to connect to the database. Jon doesn't seem to come around much.

Given the venom that gets spewed around the watercooler on subjects such as this, I wouldn't come around that often either.

In fact, were it not for some posts elsewhere discussing the subject, I might not have known that Colin and Rich were at it again.

Colin and Rich, forgive me if I don't take your bait, despite the skill with which you lay it out there. Based on past experience, I must profess that you really are master baiters of the most cerebral kind.

All I ask is the answer to my two questions.

I will continue to ask them until Bob and/or Wazz have the guts to answer them. Is that too much to ask?

Yeah, maybe it's an inclination issue :D

Yes, it actually is.

Since I only respond to defend the attacks on me and my abilities I'm somewhat puzzled by your response

I understand how you feel. I'm someone who would likely be the same way as you right now when it comes to wanting answers. The difference is, I would keep it private, between me and the person I have an issue with, and possibly involve the mods if need be.

I would also have been over the issue at this point, but I know how hard it is for you to let things go. You're still angry with the original colonists attack on the Native Americans and the wasted tea at the Boston Tea Party. :D

We just want the back tax owed, with interest!

The original remark was made in public. Anyway, Bob appears so paranoid he won't even allow PM's.

I don't think it's paranoia if someone is out to get you.

I'm not out to get anyone. I'm just asking 2 simple questions. This could have been wrapped up and forgotten at least 2 weeks ago.

I have asked Bob on this thread, and I have PM'd Wazz to try to get answers. Neither have the guts to answer. MSAccessRookie has asked Bob to comment privately but no luck I'm afraid.

You have to question if someone who is supposed to be a Mod is worthy of this title if they are scared to answer a simple question, it's almost as if they think they are like some poor version of Elliot Ness - untouchable.

Col

Still no reply from the "super" mod Wazz, and Bob is out of communication to us mortals.

I have PM'd Wazz 4 times now trying to get my questions answered.

I would have thought it would be courtious to supply an answer - preferably a truthful one would be nice.
