Has it crossed your mind that maybe they're deliberately ignoring you?

Maybe not, although if I decide I'm not going to answer a knock at the front door, repeated and vigorous subsequent knocking only strengthens my resolve.

Why would you not want to answer your front door?

Debt collectors; sales people; religious nuts; kids looking for sponsors...

I dont think Col falls into any of those categories.
Ththere are people who just don't get on with each other even though they are perfectly nice with other people. I find that it's best to ignore those people who I don't like. There are enough pleasant people in this world without bothering about the ones who get up your nose.

I have friends who I would never invite to same functions because I know they can't stand each other.

So with Colin and Bob it's probably best if they avoid each other since they clearly don't get on.

Well, for one thing, it is optional. Knocking on a person's door should not compel them to stop what they're doing and answer (in my opinion, anyway).

But in my particular case, it tends to be if the knock happens during a mealtime - I live in a three storey house - my dining room is on the first floor and the front door is on the ground floor - I cannot always be bothered to take my snout out of the trough and trudge downstairs to answer the door.

But we can only beleive that Col wants to settle things down, not much to ask.

Whats a cherry knocker? Sounds filthy.

Do you believe that? It's not the impression I'm getting, at all.

Well I haven't seen what Col said - cos its been deleted.

But I see no reason why Col should want to do anything other than clear the air.

There's that dreaded phrase, "clear the air". In my experience it usually ends up with one party venting their hatred at the other then feeling quite smug about leaving permanent mental scars on the other and complaining that they don't understand why the injured party has "taken the huff" as they feel so much better now that they have "cleared the air".

Well said Oumi! If Colin really wants to draw a line under this then he should accept that Bob does not want any contact with him and just drop this issue.

Let's all move on and put this behind us.

Well we can only trust that Cols not like that.
