At first I thought this was funny...then I realized the awful truth of it. Be sure to read all the way to the end!

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries, then
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me
to my doom..."

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

COMMENTS: Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, ad
the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What happened?

And I still have to "press 1" for English

Ken, have you heard the old saying about "death and taxes" ???

Obviously you have met the second element of that statement of inevitability.

Don't rush to complete the set.

Besides, with our MASSIVELY WASTEFUL standard of living, it is obvious that we have too much money. Congress, being in a really helpful mood, has decided to help us with that problem.

I didn't realize the part about 100 years ago - :(

And gumdrop rainbows filled the sky every morning! Peoples of all races and creeds would dance together and laugh and sing and play under the gumdrop rainbows!

Only today, you wouldn't be possessed, but you might still be persecuted and found insane for having an eccentric thought. There's no such thing as artistic views anymore, only realist ones, and if you don't conform, you are left in the dark and forgotten.

Ken, if you object to the taxes dress up as Indians , empty some tea into Boston harbour and start a revolution. It worked last time:D , but don't forget to get the French on your side.;)

Brian

Get the French on my side? Yecchh! Lately (last few years) they have been more than a little wishy-washy. Even if they WERE on my side, I'd have to wonder if they were on my side.

Everyone complains about taxes.

But what is to be done with concentrations of wealth. If there were no taxes, within one lifetime the ultra rich would own the entire planet, and everyone in it. They almost do now but the problem would be compounded.

Some people say that only liberals think that wealth redistribution is a function of government. But that is a knee jerk reaction. In the absence of taxes only the rich would be able to drive, get medical attention or obtain an education.

There has to be a balancing act between corporate and public wealth concentration.

You just cant get over the fact that I can't spell.

I was always good at math and that's more important to me anyway.

Spelling's for MS word and editors anyway, of which I am neither.:p

That was a funny come back.

And what about those that contribute to the society vs. those that do not (I.E. take take take). I would think if they are taking my money, they would come up with some workable plan to make them contributing members rather than continuing to feed off those that are.
We want results in Iraq in 3 years (another discussion, only a point here) yet we have had what, almost 50 years of non-working welfare in this country mostly for the sake of votes!?! The welfare state has created more people on welfare, and along with that crime, drugs and dealers, and higher crime rate. I would bet (no I don't have any figures) that over the years of welfare, more people have died (murder, illness, etc) because nothing is really being done to improve the situation, than has been in Iraq. Yet we tend ignore that little fact.

I'm not saying whether your wrong, but... you might not want to make an educated guess in one sentence and then call it a fact in the next. ;)

Just worded badly, I meant it is a fact that people are dying (not a number) mostly because they have no way out (a little too simplistic) of the hole that has been dug due to the welfare state. Crime wages on and we have nothing better to offer them. If we can con vein a comity on finding a solution in Iraq, why not solutions to the welfare problem also? Has to do with Votes I bet.

Isn't it sad how the poor are an easy target, especially when looking for someone to lay the blame on for a country's problems:rolleyes:

Couldn't the same be said about the wealthy?

Except that the ultra wealthy are dictating to the goverment. And it respondes by giving tax breaks to move their factories to China.
