When to eat your cake - heard of intermittent fasting?

Dick, when my father died, I was unintentionally rude to a lot of people. I may have had good reason and I may not have meant to be rude, but the fact remains that I WAS. That doesn't mean I deserved a bye for my behavior, and I made a point to go apologize to those people.

Colon MAY have good reason to be rude to every single person he meets, although I disagree. Even if he had the best reason in the world for being rude, however, that doesn't change the fact that he IS rude as hell.

As to having compassion - his complete refusal to deal with his personal issues does not mean we have to put up with his crap. He still has the choice of being pleasant or trying to piss people off, and he CHOOSES to piss people off.

Every.

Single.

Time.
You see Col hasn't learned what you have learned. We all have choice to make every day of our lives. Yea every waken hour. I have decided in my life I will have compassion. Also no matter what anybody says about me, good or bad, doesn't change who I am. Only I can change that, and that my friend is a full time job.

Although I typed up moderately long reply disagreeing with Dick, I'm not going to post it here because I think we've derailed this thread enough.

Folks, I think we've talked about Colon long enough. Most of us can't stand him while a few like him. That's not going to change unless HE changes, and that's not going to happen. Let's allow this thread to go back on track.

If someone absolutely feels the need to have a discussion about this individual, it should be its own thread.

Others have suggested that, like I did here. I think people like to argue where they are at. The whole idea of thread derailment is over rated. After all there are only two rules in the watercooler.

1.Have a thick skin.
2.Don't be so sensitive.

Actually, a mod posted a couple others on one of the other threads a few months back. Also, don't forget that about six months ago several of my posts were nuked for me calmly and clearly explaining to someone my issues with Blade with nary a cussword to be seen. (That is also why I still refuse to actually contribute to this site any longer.)

In fact, now that I think about it, many posters in this thread, myself included, have been far more offensive about Colon than my deleted posts were about Blade, but c'est la vie.

Anyway, my point is that it's not fair to the people who want to talk about the topic of the thread to deal with the rest of us having an interpersonal whine-fest. It's always better to keep threads more-or-less on-topic and to keep any derails as short as possible. If nothing else, it lets the people who don't want to deal with the personality conflicts still interact on threads about things like weight loss. :)

The trick is, never ever quote when pissed. Second never refer to the person by name. And lastly put a smiley face after going off the rails. It has some kind of magical effect.

I agree.

Now, about dieting. I have always found that not snacking, eating smaller portions and eating healthily like fruit and fresh vegetables every day works for me.
I like McDonald's, KFC and a the odd chinky, but have it in moderation.

Obviously the fresh fruit and veg is difficult in the north of England and Scotland, but there may be a black market for it somewhere.

Come on what's wrong with a diet of battered Cod, chipa, black pudding and faggots, besides we have peas, and the other day they had grapes in Tesco's, not that I got any as I was elbowed out of the way by the old ladies, but there was a grape left in the box so I had that, that should keep me going for a few more months.

You cannot beat Faggots, Black Pudding and Chips... making me hungry just thinking about..

But of course being an Essex boy and a West Ham supporter, for our American friends they are a soccer team who play in the East of London, I have a passion for Pie, Mash and Liquor, but the heathens up in the Midlands don't do it...

I have heard of a fruit replacement routine called Juice Plus, apparently big in the US and starting to get momentum here in the UK, is it any good?

Okay, bear with me here. I know the American slang 'faggot', and I know that the word can also refer to a bunch of firewood. I also know that 'fag' can be British slang for a cigarette. However, I have never before seen it used to refer to food. So what precisely is it referring to in this case? (I assume that it's a situation similar to how what you call biscuits, we call cookies.)

Brian will probably explain it much better than me, but a Faggot is a rolled up ball of spicy meat served in a rich Gravy...

Not very healthy, in fact loaded with Salt and Fat, but boy it tastes good.. :D

HAH The Wiki article on it (I looked it up while you were posting) doesn't do much to make an American want to eat it, I'm afraid. We're not big on eating offal, in general. Unless it's ground up and encased in intestines, anyway. :)

Also, I can't stand liver, so that's one English dish I probably won't be eating.

Thanks for the explanation, though!

Tasting is believing.. ;)

Frothy oh Frothy,

YOU DON'T EAT OFFAL !! :(

Hearts, Kidneys, Liver are the best parts of the animal.

Made a steak kidneys and onion casserole the other day , great

Brian

It's an American thing. We get queasy thinking of the contents of hot dogs, which are basically ground up offal encased in intestine.

But then, apparently you benighted Europeans generally don't grasp the gastronomic delight that is peanut butter. We all have our quirks.

Edit: And honestly? I've tried liver. I just can't stand the taste of it.

I don't like peanut butter but I know lots that do so whether in general we Brits don't eat it or not I can't say.

People who don't like liver usually object to the texture as much if not more than the taste in my experience. As you say we all have our quirks.
