Why so Anti America on this forum?

I suspect that the majority of British people admire and even like the Chinese immigrants, and especially like Chinese restaurants and takeaways, thus their use of chinky is not a slur but just a short hand, and the much quoted wiki does not suggest that that use of it is in anyway demeaning.

I suspect that if the British public so admired their Chinese immigrants when they first arrived then the word 'chinky' would never have come into common use considering it derives from the term 'chink'. Still what would I know, I'm just a biased American right?

It's very simple. Its a case of what you are referring to. Fofa was referring to a creature, period. Rich refers to a building that MUST be linked to the Chinese in some way

Dan you miss the whole point of the argument about bias. Coon was first used in the thread by Mike to describe black people, and FoFa rather than join the condemnation tried to sidetrack the issue with his furry creature, why? One can only assume that it was because Mike has stated that he liked Americans. Well I like Americans but would still expect to be attacked if I used foul and abusive language.

I did not say Americans were biased, I said that bias was shown against Rich and Col, I do wish people would read what is written.

Unlike Latin English is not a dead language, and thus not only can it develop new words and spellings but adapt new meanings to words, especially when taken in context.

I know you don't use that word Brian, and I appreciate everything you've said. I just find it incredulous that some people can't possibly understand why someone else might find that term objectionable. Therefore, the argument about the furry animal to me was valid, because just as Rich and Col say they never use that term as a derogatory but only to refer to a meal, FoFa and myself never use the word coon as a derogatory but only in reference to a small furry creature. It means something else entirely to you over there though. As far as the biased treatment of Col and Rich goes, they've brought a lot of that treatment upon themselves because of their biased treatment of others (namely Americans).

If they would shape up and start treating people nicely again, then I'm sure they would get the same in return.
