I don't spoil my coffee by sweetening it, but then i don't add sugar to anything, but love merinques, chocolate and all sweet desserts. My family think I'm mad as I have a very sweet tooth but never add sugar to anything.

Not really, layer flaky pastry. layer soft custardy stuff, layer flaky pastry, layer of icing, bottom to top of course.

Danishes are simpler but just as nice.

Kids can be a pain, my favourite is a crunchie one my wife makes, but my niece pinches most of it, no fruit or other healthy stuff, a merinque base filled with a mix of thick cream and crumbled crunchie bars, shear unhealthy delight.
