Access 2007 Unrecognized Database Format? I'M SCREWED!!!! HELP!!!!

I am on a deadline today and when I went to open an Access 2007 (I abhor the fact that I am forced to use 2007) database, it will not open. It gives me the error message Unrecognized database format [file path].

I have tried creating a brand new database and importing all objects from old to new but I get the same error message.

PLEASE HELP!!!!
 
It won't even let me in to the db in order to convert or repair it.
 
I posted in both places to get help anywhere I could. Is that against the rules? Should I have only posted on 1 forum?
 
Yes I am using Access 2007. Unfortunately that is the only version my company loaded onto my PC. That's all I have been using.

No - post on as many as you like, just let people know that is what you have done so they don't waste their freely given time proposing solutions already made elsewhere.

Also when you get an email advising you have a response, don't assume that is the only one, so read the full thread otherwise you may miss something
 
do you have backups? - And does the link I provided help?

Also, are you getting an error number? if so, what? same message can sometimes cover a multitude of problems
 
If you are able to import objects, import half to new db. See if you can open it now. If it works import half of the remainder. If not, start over and import half of half to start off with. Etc.

Using this halving method by importing half of the remainder each time, you should be able to zero in on offending objects, whether they are housed in the just imported half or the remaining half, pretty soon.
 
Not able to open db, repair db nor import any objects from db into a new blank db. Same error message occurs.
 
is the db split front end/back end? If so, which one is giving the problem
 
Assuming you have tried all the options suggested, it sounds like you'll need to revert to a backup, if you haven't being doing them yourself then have a word with your IT department, they should be doing regular backups.

Once you have got it restored, split the database (not splitting it can cause corruption) and ensure you take regular backups - I do one every night for the db(s) I've been working on.

The only other thing I can suggest is a decompile, but I suspect that won't work either. Here is a link for how to do it

Did you try importing the objects into a new database one item at a time? It is probably just one form that is giving you trouble.
 
It miht be just one troublesome form or object, but I can't even get into the db. As soon as I select it when trying to import it into a new blank db, I get the error message "Unrecognized database format [my file path]" :banghead:
 
Have you ever modified the database in a newer version of access? Can you try to open it in 2013?
 
there are access repair tools out there , that will rip the tables out ..
- but its easier to get the back up ...

clutching at straws ..
make a copy first
try
zipping the file
extract and see what happens


rename the file to something else

from xxx.mdb to xxxx.tmp
then rename back to yyyyy.mdb and see if you can compact

open access - do not open file xxxx just access
and see if you can compact from there (I am sure you have tried this )

..

open your dbase and see if you can control alt break

try opening it on another machine .. - weird i know - but we are clutching at straws

Virus check you pc - "deep clean" - then try all of the above .

but I think its back up time ...if its sat on a server ? and not local

how big is the file ?

i am at work at the moment - if the files not too big - i could put it through the software i have to recover data - it does not repair - but might get the tables out
