How do you know that I don't live on the Isle of Man?![]()
Whether you live on it or not as least now you are aware of how to refer to it.

Wrong again Daniella, The Isle of Man is a part of the British Isles, it is not a part of Great BritainWhether you live on it or not as least now you are aware of how to refer to it.
Unfortunately guys Rich may be being a pedantic pain, but he is correct, the Ilse of Man is part of the British Isles but not Great Britain.

GREAT Britain is I admit a slightly outdated term.
I never said the Isle of Man was a part of Great Britain.
From the start I have said that Great Britain is a SINGLE island.
Why would I then go on to say that another island is a part of Great Britain?
Rich was incorrect in saying that Great Britain is no longer a single entity. It is a single entity. It is an island. It is much a single entity as the Isle of Man is.
Oh Gawd! you are as bad as Rich, post 41 definitely implied that you included the I.O.M. as part of Great Britain, as for Great Britain being a single island ALL references also include the isle of White, Angelsey and numerous other small islands.
However this nonsense is causing me to lose the will to live so I'm outa here.
Brian
Weird how being pedantic is amusing when done by a compatriot but tedious when not.
Oh Gawd! you are as bad as Rich,
Where do you draw that conclusion from?
Have a great 2009 teasing our Colonial cousins Rich.
However this nonsense is causing me to lose the will to live so I'm outa here.
Like I said to Col, take it up with your Encyclopedia.
.
The United Kingdom does not include the Isle of Man (which lies between Great Britain and the island of Ireland) and the Channel Islands (which lie off the North coast of France). These are direct dependencies of the British Crown, maintaining their own legislative, monetary and taxation systems. Each have their own parliaments and a Governor, appointed by the Crown. The British Isles is used more loosely to describe the main island of Great Britain together with its associated islands (including the Isle of Man). It has no legal significance.
