We had it on the old site, do we need it on the new one? Or does it stop people from carrying on the discussion?

IMHO, I can ignore that thread and go find one that is still waiting for help. I can also say if I am a part of a thread that has been marked solved if the OP posts I will still go back as they have run into a another related issue or be asking for additional information.

No, it implies all other posts did not result in success.

It can be nice, like Gina I'll generally ignore threads marked solved.

@plog My mistake, I mean't to say Mark Thread solved, not Mark Post Solved.

... Mark Thread solved, not Mark Post Solved.

Ha ha, I wasn't being pedantic. In fact I understood it exactly as you meant it--I confused post/thread too. So my statement should be revised:

It implies all other threads did not result in success.

Voting yes for the same reasons mentioned by Gina and Paul. Also, it helps a user searching for an answer...they will pick a thread more readily if it has been marked solved.

Yes for same reasons as others have stated above

If a thread is not marked SOLVED, it sort of leaves a reader hanging. Is it still unresolved? Has the OP dropped the subject or interest? SOLVED with a comment can be useful to others.

Wow, you really do want that Solve button don't you!

Well, we always have to rely on the courtesy of the poster to mark it solved and strangely enough there have been a few enquiries on how it is done by said posters on this new software recently. :)

I need to see what's out there and find something suitable.

I voted for the solved button. Why would I want to look at solved threads, which by the way, you can probably only know by reading through to the end? While I'm wasting my time with that, Gasman is beating me to the threads that matter. :D

Ok, we will get a solve button solution. I'm convinced!

I haven't found a satisfactory solution yet. There is a Resolve button (edit: available as a plugin), but I am not sure that the term Resolve is as clear as Solved, especially since we have many non-native English speakers here. There is another solution that embeds all types of things and I am not 100% on that one either. So it is still as yet undecided what solution to use.
