Day 1

I’ve completed my first full day of fasting! Now into day two, and so far I haven’t felt any overwhelming urge to eat—though I’m not sure how I’d hold up if someone started frying bacon nearby.

To manage cravings, I’m drinking plenty of water. When the urge gets strong enough that I feel I might give in, I make a simple broth from an OXO Cube—beef or chicken, depending on my mood. Normally I prepare it with two cubes, plus pepper and a clove of garlic, but for fasting I tried just one cube to cut the calories. Surprisingly, it tasted fine, and I wonder why I never tried that before.

Physically, I feel better. My arthritis pain, which is usually just a dull background sensation, seems lighter. My insides feel cleansed, almost “washed through.” I feel lighter on my feet—though I’m not sure if that’s psychosomatic or a genuine change. Overall, I sense my body feels fresher, cleaner, less burdened.

The scales, however, show no change. A little disappointing, but not unexpected. Still, I’m optimistic about finishing today without eating, and I think tomorrow might be possible too.

Day 2

Things went well until midday, when my wife made a bacon sandwich—and one for me too. Normally that would be a welcome treat, but this time it was a real dilemma. A fresh bacon sandwich on soft white bread, with Heinz ketchup… it was almost irresistible.

You’re probably thinking I gave in right then. But no—I resisted. At least until midnight. By then, I felt I had conquered day two and was already into day three. The sandwich was waiting in the fridge, practically staring at me. I ate half of it. And, to top it off, I grabbed a Cornetto ice cream from the freezer.

Almost immediately, I felt the difference: my mood dipped, I felt deflated. I drank a couple of glasses of water and went to bed.

Day 3

This morning, the other half of the bacon sandwich is still in the fridge, edges curled and less appealing. Oddly enough, I’m not tempted by it. Right now, I feel confident I can get through today without breaking the fast.

Well, as you are fasting, I am slowing, so I guess we balance out.

A couple years ago I watched the movie "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" If your not familiar with it, it's about a guy with various illnesses who cured himself and lost weight by Juicing. The movie takes you along on his trip accross America sharing his knowledge. It was pretty good and the ending is amazing.

I gave it a go for about 2 months. A juice for each meal and maybe a piece of fruit as a solid snack. My main focus was not eating any kind of processed foods. After the first week I was never hungry. No cravings of any kind. Felt energized and really good. In 2 months I lost over 40 pounds to the point where I had to buy a lot of new clothes.
Good thing I kept all my old clothes however when I stopped and started eating fast foods and processed foods again a lot of the pounds came back.

I've just eaten the bacon out of the remaining sandwich, shared it with the dog and binned the bread.

The reason I'm doing this fasting diet since listening to that podcast with Jason Fung, is over the lockdown period I've put on nearly a stone!

I couldn't believe it! I don't recommend anyone stands on the scales anytime soon cos I reckon you'll be in for a big shock! Unless of course you're one of those naturally skinny people... Stick tongue out emoji here!

Binned the bread !! There are birds out there, starving? :D
I even throw the mouldy cheese out, and that is gone in a heartbeat. :)

@moke123
When you say juice, is that just juice bought in a store? like orange/grapefruit, or did you make your own out of dandelions and such?

Hey Monk, where was the original Indian Motorcycle factory? No fair googling the answer.

I don't see any need for fasting, or dieting as we call it.
My view is that if you eat sensible food, fresh veg, fruit etc, then there is no need to diet. If you eat smaller portions, you can still enjoy it and feel happy it is doing you no harm. Have oven chips instead of deep fried, restrict takeaways to once a month as a reward. Salad is good, and is tasty if you do it right. (For Americans here, a salad is healthy food like lettuce, tomato, radish and cucumber etc)
During this lockdown, the temptation is there to 'snack' food. Again, if this is done sensibly like eating an apple or an orange etc, is much better than a packet of crisps. I've lost almost a stone during lockdown and feel better for it.
Obviously, it's different for Americans as their portions can feed a small army, and they live on fast food rather than cook. My friend went to America and said he had never seen so many fat people, also such huge portions like a steak the size of a frisbee and about an inch and a half thick.

We make up for it, famously, with dentistry.

Sorry hit send by mistake Col, you answered your own question. (AMERICANS) {I is one} What you mention for a healthy eating is correct, However eating like you mention is absolute torture for me. I grew up in the north we very seldom had fresh fruit. They now are very distasteful to me. Later in life I could afford to eat anything I wanted. I wanted steak, prime rim lobster, etc. I married a wife from the south that came for a poor family. They ate 3 or 4 veggies at each meal. For a while she tried to get me to eat more healthy. (code word diet, fasting, slow torture) After three months I told her this is the end, I can eat all this grass. Now in my old age,I am paying for it,

@Uncle Gizmo If you get peckish, rather than giving up, just eat protein. I lost 29lbs last year and I logged everything. When I had days with more protein, I ate less. It kept me satiated. At the moment, I am having a Grenade carb killa high protein bar each afternoon. They are only 242 calories, but fill you up for a long time.

just eat protein.

Yes I understand steak is also a good source of protein, its recommended by Mikhaila Peterson, Dr Jordan Peterson's daughter. She has had serious illnesses all her life. She studied diet in great detail related to her own physique and discovered that the drugs to doctors prescribe to her were in many ways detrimental. She discovered that her diet had a big effect on the illness, and one of the safest things she could eat was Meat.

So I decided I would give it a go, and I ended my fast last night with a lovely steak.

So I've had 3 days of eating hardly nothing, one steak last night, and this morning I am sated and have no intention of eating anything today, maybe a Steak Salad this evening as I think it's important to eat something! But just one meal a day will do me I'm sure.

I've already noticed significant changes in my metabolism, and the feeling of wellness is through the roof.

Mikhaila has her own podcast channel. She interviewed some very interesting people. In the above thread I posted a link to Jason Fung, a University calibre/educated person specialising in the liver I think? In studying his patients he came to realise that most of the information we receive about the correct diet is incorrect and he has set about to try and correct this.

Making public statements about what you do also helps adherence.

How do you mean?

I visited that factory in 1948. My Dad as unofficial Indian dealer in Bellingham, MA. He also had a dirt track race team. His bike was, of course, an Indian.
