Hi,
I have a member I am trying to help, and she is having difficulty uploading her DB.

The old software would show the limits for each file type when you went to upload your DB. This software does not appear to do this.?

Is there a thread/link that states what and how big can be loaded.?

I haven't been able to find that type of info, but wrt her problem - did she remove all embedded images and/or attachments? Sometimes they end up in a system table. I've seen that before where the db had documents in it. I think it's MsysResources.

Yes, she removed all her photos and I advised embedding them was not a good idea.

That doesn't mean there are no attachments in the hidden table. The other guy did that too, but I found them but had to get his file from a drop box first.

What is her file size? Do you know what the maximum file size was on the previous software here?

Sure you have but just to check - have you asked her to compact and zip the file before upload?

Hi Jon, no not offhand, when you went to upload, you were shown a small table of file types and their sizes.

@CJ_London Yes, and we eventually got it loaded (lots of pictures in it for each item), however it still begs the question, how small does one need to make it before you can get it uploaded.?

The old software would even allow a DB unzipped, so if just a small example DB, you could just upload that. This software no longer allows that.

One feels a little silly saying 'I do not know what size you need to get the file down to, to upload it.' :)

I assume that files will still have to be zipped?

It used to be 2MB for .zip, .ACCDB, .MDB but much less for most file e.g. 100kB for images
Is that now 6MB for zipped files or for any type of file?

2MB would have been fine Jon, I was just trying to find out the limits.

TBH unless you have plenty of space, I think 6MB is a little generous, and could be abused, human nature being what it is.?

Ok, it is now 5,000KB. I don't know anything about the upload system so you will just have to experiment.

Edit: Allowed file types...

zip
txt
pdf
png
jpg
jpeg
jpe
gif
accdb
mdb

doc docx xls xlsx not in your list but I'm fairly certain that we've had some of those.

Nope, when you go to upload it has set the suffixes.? If you choose All Files and I've just selected a .doc and I got the error message below

I checked - they got around that by zipping the doc.

Could change the suffix as well.? I've done that to send files by email, that Outlook would block. :)
