Both books based on theory by conservatives

How many out of say 260,000,000?

Proof man, proof?

So? My statement was stated as theory, not fact. My theory is based on some pretty damning evidence that I chose to accept, because there isn't anything credible from liberals saying that welfare is a good thing. I will not base my beliefs on idealism.

There are 260,000,000 people on welfare in the US? Isn't that MOST of the population?

Wait.... nevermind. I guess we all are somehow.

Who are you calling a republican? Them's fightin' words :D
George was actually referring to another thread where the same outrageous claims were made, I responded to that, in your case however I see the cap fits anyway:p

I think most people would applaud the case for welfare if they were broke and starving. I know I would.

And if welfare keeps the beggars off the street then I am happy.

I asked Ken to ask the question, and then left, WOW didn't the thread move!

I wont tackle each post as I have a life to live, and besides I'm totally in line with Len, we are both in our mature years, even if he is still a young sprog.

The welfare state was concieved as a safety net but for many has become a way of life, it is the abuse of the system that needs tackling but it is not easy to catch all instances, and therefore I prefer our abused system rather than none at all. I believe that it is the mark of a civilised society as to the way it treats the weak and unfortunate.

That seems reasonable, kind of like 'error on the safe side'... :)

Yes, how odd that Americans are bitterly opposed to it:rolleyes:

Rich, you're lumping all Americans together based on what a few of us have said here? I would say, from what I've read, that I am the ONLY American here that is bitterly opposed to welfare. Don't assume all Americans are like me (god forbid)... most are nowhere near my high level of intelligence or common sense.:D
